I think an interesting analogy is gravity. Gravity is a theory, not a law or fact: The greatest minds have to date failed to fit gravity into our understanding of how things work: So we can observe gravity, but we really don't know how or why it works. But we see its results, and we label it "gravity." You personally would never doubt gravity, because you experience it every day. Many, including some in this thread, have seen first hand how God works. Others have faith that the great minds before them have experienced God. None of this addresses the existence of Hell specifically, but rather the existence of God in general.

FWIW, I was addressing the assertion that it wasn't mentioned in the Bible.

Also I'm just googling this. There are more.

Mark 9:44-48 New International Version [44] [a] 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. [46] [b] 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where “‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’[c]

Matthew 25: 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ 46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

US to build Sub that goes faster than sound
jerryskids replied to wiffleball's topic in The Geek Club
My googling says the speed of sound in salt water is about 1500 meters per second, which is 3345 miles per hour. I'm sure they mean it goes faster than the speed of sound in air. -
I don't recall Toro hating MDC that much.

Latest right wing conspiracy theory: Taylor Swift is a government asset
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
You guys may be in luck; Swifties think she'll break up with Kelce over his "toxic masculinity" at the SB: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/taylor-swift-fans-travis-kelce-174108323.html?.tsrc=daily_mail&uh_test=0_00 Go get 'er, tigers! -
Timmy’s thread for general discussion
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
I know you Lefties like to live at extremes and false dichotomies, but there is a middle ground between complete isolationism and giving more to Ukraine than the entire rest of NATO combined. Trump actually understood that NATO was living high on the hog off our benevolence, which is why he pushed them to meet their financial goals, and tossed out the possibility of leaving NATO so that they had an incentive to act. Your TDS will never allow you to see it, but that's on you. Feel free to look at my posting history; I have never advocated we completely disengage from Ukraine. I think we should support them. But this is happening in Europe, it is at its core a local issue, it's not the first step in Russia trying to take over the world. As such I think the EU should have more skin in the game, not take their typical stance to back off, let us do all of the heavy lifting, and then act superior because they give more money in entitlements to their people. -
It seems wrong that in a thread where Wiff provides bad medical news, I feel the most sorry for Seafoam, because this V-Tach thing is probably treatable, but I don't think Seafoam's insufferability is.

Sheesh, when I first opened this thread there were no responses. Pretty busy for a Saturday. -
Timmy’s thread for general discussion

We have good discussions... ya doosh. Let's talk Ukraine. To date, the US has given almost as much as the rest of NATO: The US has proposed another $60B as we know, coming to $135B. The EU has proposed another $20B: coming to $120B. My question: do you think the US should give more than the rest of NATO combined? -
Agreed, that was my thought.

A ginger with a Jewish nose, seems like your type. Also, that looks yummy. Of course, it is all sugar, so what's not to like.

I don't think we are going, but Blues Traveler is here in Mesa this weekend. "Four" was in my top 10 favorite albums from the 90s. We had VIP tix to see them in early 2020 but the Vid hit and canceled it. This time it is at a cool outdoor amphitheater, only $30 each and part of a food festival. https://www.mesaamphitheater.com/events/mesa-food-festival-blues-traveler-17-february-2024/ We have other plans but thinking of changing...

Thanks. To be clear, I like Fear. The more I listen, the more it is my favorite of their albums. Just listening to Danny Carey evolve/improve over time is great. Also I learned Invincible from Fear which is great. They didn't play T7mpest, but a friend turned me on, another great song. My nit was that their non-fear songs were meh. I mean, Rosetta Stoned is good, but play some hits like from your list (46, Aenima). They did end with Schism.

Go big or go home. :jealous:

Haven't seen that. I've had the lower leg massagers multiple times, as well as the bed sore pad they stick on your lower back/upper ass. Is this part of the V-Tach you mentioned recently? I presume, since you are in the cardiac unit. Do they have a plan of attack yet?

Insane person talks about the changing weather hurting black people.

True, but they are not faux admirals driving policy and stoking flames on a macro scale. -
***EdEx Complaining Thread*** edjr - STAY OUT!!!

My first 3 picks are a combined -2 half way thru Friday. I guess I could blame drafting the first two from a doctor's waiting room, but I was also happy that Morikawa dropped to me, and Burns was a fine pick. My best player so far, Beau Hossler at -4, was my 5th pick who I drafted from a church pew Wednesday morning. I think that means it was divinely inspired. -

jerryskids replied to Cdub100's topic in The Geek Club
Ladies and gentlemen, your tax dollars at work. We need not one but two federal offices funded to address the issue that since black people are disproportionately poor, they live in neighborhoods with fewer trees and fewer air conditioners. This is a poverty issue, not a race issue, but once again our government creates a racism angle to stoke the flames. -
I thought you'd like it!

I'm not familiar with Max Magazine, are you? Also a quick search doesn't show the photos, if you have a link I'll check them out. The photographer who took them seems more artsy than porny though: http://www.jarlale8.com/

Porn, or inappropriate for young children? I'd explain the difference, but that would waste yet more time.

What about a little girl in NYC twerking for a crowd: art or intended to arouse?
