COVID shots: How many have you received?

For #1, it is yes. The absence of data makes your initial statement incorrect. For #2, instead of severity, I should have stated time -- Ivermectin is thought to be effective early in the infection. Somebody who has had Covid for 7 days (as allowed in your study) is past the time when Ivermectin could help, regardless of severity. That being said, I find it odd that a 20% improvement in time to resolution of symptoms (from 12 to 10 days) is not viewed as statistically significant. This implies to me that their sample size is to far to draw any significance one way or the other, which they somewhat imply in their "meaning": "Do not support the use" is different than concluding it is ineffective.

    Autumn Songs

True dat! Also, I googled "best songs about autumn" and the first one on the list was When September Ends. Also on the list, duh:

I originally was going to post California Dreamin' And yeah, it's really about him losing his father to throat cancer, but since that's what I have/had, it's a little close to home for me.

    War in Israel

As I said up thread, it is to dehumanize the victims. You can't support a soulless, evil group like Hamas if you internalize the human atrocities they perform with a smile.

COVID shots: How many have you received?

By "especially," do you mean "only"? And by "have ," do you mean "have a severe case of"?

Link? I haven't been around as much but I would be open to seeing an example.

    The Genius of Martin Scorsese

I feel like it would be hipster to not like Scorcese because they seem somewhat formulaic, but it's a damn good formula. Plus he gets great actors into great roles (DeNiro in his prime multiple times, same with DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis).

This thread has nothing to do with politics. You make this place worse with every post.

    Speaker of the House discussion

Already did multiple times in the past, but you are an inane troll. Carry on.

    Speaker of the House discussion

I've refuted it in the past, but you lack the intelligence to digest it. Instead you had the Spinal Tap reaction I predicted. I'm not wasting the time of finding and posting the data again, it's lost on you anyway.

    Speaker of the House discussion

Why are you proud? What end of this clown show is a win? Who is the uber awesome speaker that makes it worthwhile for Republicans to look like incompetent buffoons to independents?
  14. I agree with you here, a private-only model doesn't work for sparsely populated areas.

    Speaker of the House discussion

Well, if there was any doubt that you are Wade Garrett and all his simpleton other aliases, it is gone with this post. Only they (and now you) are so stupid to continue this debt idiocy when I have repeatedly shown how Trump had his final year (CoVID emergency) of increased spending/debt, whereas Biden continues and builds off of it despite the non-existence of such an emergency. You will probably respond, like you historically do, with a Spinal Tap "But this one goes to 11" statement about how Trump raised the debt, not capable of understanding what I'm saying.

My Sister Won't Let It Go

Tell her if she gave her man a beejer every once in a while, she'd have a happy home life and wouldn't have such pent up TDS rage.
  17. I presume you aren't arguing my initial point to Tim, that perks and prestige are much higher now than they were? US Senators "merit" that prestige you mention for the very reasons we are having this discussion: the federal government has grown from the original perception of a body of respected community members taking a term to go help govern with limited, enumerated powers, to the bloated, multi-trillion dollar machine we have today. That all being said, I'd love to pay elected officials more. Heck, I think part-time Door Dash drivers make more than our state reps in AZ. Unfortunately you often get what you pay for, and in our state we have some real winners for legislators. Even your example of US Senators: they make $174K per year. That's not a salary for someone representing millions of people. I made more than that most years. I'd rather pay them $500K, $1M, or more, so we attract the best and brightest, and those not looking to make money other ways.

    Bill Maher nails it AGAIN!

Looks like @edjrquit on this thread. Anyway, Maher nails the pathetic status of our "elite" institutions. He always manages to end his segments with a dig on the Right, even after spending the first 8 minutes pointing out the problems with the Left.
  19. As an alleged student of history, I'm surprised that you are honestly proposing that the attitude and perks of the original legislators are comparable to today.

    War in Israel

Well, yeah. The media understands the power of humanizing, or dehumanizing, people in order to influence the opinions of the masses.
  21. We don't live in a democracy. The Greeks tried it, it failed. We live in a democratic republic, or representative democracy. I draw this distinction because I'm increasingly thinking that our system is ultimately doomed if we do not change the way our elected representatives benefit from their offices. The simplest way to upset that apple cart would be term limits.

    Easy but satisfying meals

That looks yummy, thanks! We often use spaghetti squash as a healthy sub for pasta; this looks really simple.

Driving hours to see the fall colors.

We don't have much foliage in the desert, but we are surrounded by higher elevations that have it. So we've been looking for relatively short trips to see some. Most of the areas are in the 3-ish hour range. I wouldn't just drive 6 hours round trip to see it, but I'd make a day if it included some hiking.

    Learning another language.

Wife and I spend a few weeks using the Babbel app before our trip to Italy. I'd say it was fairly useless. I learned to conjugate "to be", yippee, Io sono molto bene$#@! Much more useful was: the first few numbers, acqua = water, frizzante = bubbly water, asporto = to go, for drinks particularly coffee (no Italians trusted me though; they all repeated "take away?"). I'm not sure you can really learn a language without immersing yourself somewhat.

    War in Israel

I missed it if it was mentioned, but the reason people tear down posters of kidnapped Israelis is because those posters humanize the victims. It is very difficult to support an evil, soulless cult like Hamas if you have to face the fact that you support a group that seeks out Jewish babies, women, and innocent victims to torment. For the same reason, the MSDNC inundates us with pictures of suffering Palestinians. To increase their humanization in our eyes.
