So, I gave the concert a 4 out of 5 on Ticketmaster. Here was my review: I took my son and his GF (both mid 20s) as a Christmas gift; she is a Tool fan and it seemed like a good way to bond with them as a couple, while seeing a bucket list band for me. Thing is, she knows the better-known songs (like the ones I listed), as do I and I would guess most of the attendees. If you are going to play half of your concert from your new stuff, you should be better about the older stuff. Then again, going against the grain is a very Tool thing to do. I had researched the expected playlist and familiarized myself with the songs. If you go, I suggest the same.

Interesting. I saw Styx in early 2020, just before the Covid plague. Small venue, a couple thousand maybe, no other acts. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Styx was probably my favorite band in my formative tween years (late 70s to early 80s) and yes, Dennis DeYoung is no longer with them, but the replacement did a great job IMO. That being said, I love REO (moreso their earlier stuff) and that concert sounds a lot of fun.

Descendants of enslaved who built Missouri university want over $70 billion for unpaid slave labor
jerryskids replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Seriously though, I think the point they are trying to make is diminished by being too greedy and unreasonable with assumptions like this. If they went with, say, 10 hours per day, 6 days per week, call it 1/3 the amount, that's still $24B, which is roughly $24B more than their descendants today deserve, but it is still a stronger argument. -

Again, I am not (nor do I think johnnyutah is) necessarily advocating the decision. Personally, I think the decision to go 2nd is the right call. But there is an argument for going first. That being said, to cmh's point, it does not appear that Shanahan went through this analysis. It seems he was unaware of the different rule, and just went with the "regular" overtime decision. -
Most insufferable poster at FFT Geek Club in 2023. The Poll
jerryskids replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
This was one of the reasons I voted for seafoam. The other is his incessant posting of the same thing over and over again, be it a video of Biden sniffing hair, or "what?", or... My second place is Raven Fan, due to his inability to master the English language, particularly singular vs. plural, which he tends to wrap around idiotic positions. But each idiotic position is at least differently worded to relay a somewhat unique thought. Plus the volume isn't there. -

I agree with @JohnnyUtah. His point was that if both teams score the same on their first possessions, the advantage goes to the team with the ball, which would be the Niners. And if you were "sure" the Chiefs would get 7, you might as well go first, because you know you need to get 7 either way, and then you get the above advantage. Put another way, had they held the Chiefs to 3, the advantage would shift to the Niners. I'm not saying, nor do I think he is saying, that this necessarily outweighs the benefit of going 2nd. He is merely disagreeing with the position of "there is absolutely no reason to go first." -
That's actually a catchy refrain.

Biden's upcoming physical exam will not include a cognitive test

Technically, they are not saying he is mentally fine. They are saying they don't need to test him, so that they have plausible deniability. -

As my son would say: not with that attitude... It got me thinking about @The Real timschochet and his position that part of the solution is to improve the shiotholes these people are coming from. Which is a fair point. But doesn't that mean that every illegal immigrant we let in has the effect of weakening their home country? Shouldn't we send them back to be part of the solution? -

What doesn't make sense? Is your objection to the starting of a new thread? If he had put this in another Biden thread, would you have agreed with it? Do you, or do you not, see the clear cognitive issues that Joe Biden has? -

You occasionally ask how any of your posts show you are a leftie. This is one. Biden is clearly very cognitively impaired, and yet you support him. Embrace your leftie hackism, Rusty. -

Interesting, thanks. This seems like something of a natural experiment; when time allows I'll look into your legislature and if they've done anything idiotic. Do you think the salary is the cause of the commie-ness, or is it just a Mass thing? -

Arizona says hold my beer. and... you get what you pay for. For every Leslie Knope there are a dozen idiots who you wouldn't want watching your cat, let alone controlling a state legislation. I would put another zero at the end of that salary and see what we get as candidates. It's freaking noise in the budget for cripes sake, let's lure some smart people into these positions! -

Good post. For people like @Cdub100, I understand the passion that all life is precious, but that victory should be won via debate, not legislation. And we need to abstract the "rightness" of the position from its impact on elections. Buck, Volty, and others are correct that this is a losing position for the Republican party, and it was the primary reason that the red wave didn't happen in 2022 (the secondary reason being that Trump-backed candidates don't share the same teflon that Trump himself does, and they by and large flamed out in competitive elections).
