The "happiness gap" makes sense. Conservatives are, by definition, generally happy with the status quo. Progressives, by definition, want "progress" or change. As such, progressives have an unhappiness with the status quo. One could argue that it is natural to be unhappy if there is a change you feel strongly about. I think historically this could explain progressives. But it's clear in recent years that there are a lot of people who are just fundamentally unhappy. These people seem to think that change for change's sake might make them happy, I dunno. But look at the causes celeb these days: terrorist baby-murdering Palestinian regimes, open borders, boys in girls sports, male rapists in female prisons, the list goes on. These aren't exactly like slavery or women's suffrage. It seems we've solved all the big things, so the unhappy people need to find increasingly bizarre changes to support.

Anyone else think college women's softball is kind of hot?
jerryskids replied to Tebok's topic in The Geek Club
In general, I agree with those that say that softball is not at the top of the food chain for producing hotties. I suspect that the nature of the sport generally rewards more baggage for power, and doesn't penalize the extra weight. That is not to say that there aren't some smoke shows, though. I've got the Softball CWS on in the background, and this Oklahoma pitcher Sam Landry is making my bat happy. https://www.google.com/search?q=sam+landry+sexy&sca_esv=0db3d9d5837845dd&sxsrf=AE3TifPRVMNXp-BSGzrDnCOjxQF0D9TELQ:1748546500067&source=hp&biw=1368&bih=743&ei=xLM4aLGeApXWkPIPjdv64Aw&iflsig=AOw8s4IAAAAAaDjB1AHQEevCPaejWnzxi3jm2jbjXD9c&ved=0ahUKEwixkIios8mNAxUVK0QIHY2tHswQ4dUDCBc&uact=5&oq=sam+landry+sexy&gs_lp=EgNpbWciD3NhbSBsYW5kcnkgc2V4eUj8OlAAWP02cAB4AJABAJgByAKgAbUTqgEHMy44LjIuMrgBA8gBAPgBAYoCC2d3cy13aXotaW1nmAIMoAKuEcICBxAjGCcYyQLCAgsQABiABBixAxiDAcICDhAAGIAEGLEDGIMBGIoFwgIIEAAYgAQYsQPCAgUQABiABJgDAJIHBzIuNS4zLjKgB-ZBsgcHMi41LjMuMrgHrhHCBwcwLjYuNS4xyAct&sclient=img&udm=2#vhid=Z3NyHMGBjMpZJM&vssid=mosaic -
Back on topic, conservatives are consistently found to be happier than liberals. Perhaps being dumb, like the OP, contributes to their unhappiness? AI Overview Learn more Research consistently indicates that conservatives report higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction than liberals. This "happiness gap" has been observed across various studies and demographics, suggesting that it's not simply due to one group having more advantages than the other. While this gap is consistently reported, the reasons for it are still debated, with factors like personality traits, moral values, and even socio-cultural contexts playing a role. Here's a more detailed look: Potential Explanations: Some theories suggest that conservatives may be happier due to their more traditional values and beliefs, which can lead to a greater sense of belonging and purpose. Others point to personality traits like neuroticism being negatively related to conservatism, potentially contributing to lower happiness among liberals. Socio-Cultural Context: The happiness gap may be less universal than previously assumed, with the extent of the gap varying depending on the specific socio-cultural context and political ideology prevailing in a particular time period or country. Moral Foundations: Research also suggests that liberals and conservatives may differ in their moral foundations, with liberals emphasizing harm and fairness, while conservatives prioritizing loyalty, authority, and sanctity. These differences in moral values could potentially contribute to differences in happiness. Further Research: Some studies question the validity of self-report measures of happiness and suggest that more objective measures are needed to fully understand the relationship between political ideology and happiness. Research Findings: Studies have repeatedly shown that conservatives report being happier and more satisfied with their lives than liberals. This is true even when controlling for factors like age, gender, and income.

Hey @Ron_Artest and @Fnord, feel free to respond to the above. I'd also appreciate your thoughts on Cornell's take on DEI for their Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. This is how Ivies are teaching our future leaders. Sounds good? https://ecologyandevolution.cornell.edu/diversity-and-inclusion -

Sorry I disappeared, I'm at the Dbacks vs Pirates game. You tried the semantics game, dummy. I'm embarrased for you that I need to waste time reminding you. I'm fine in general with equality goals like @TimHauckquoted, things like mentoring and interviews at HBCUs. I'm against in general equity goals , things like equal representation in positions, because those put numbers ahead of quality. then again, i worked in an engineering world, like @nobody, where people cared if planes crashed. -

A "fair shake" is equality. @Ron_Artestsaid upthread, and since your post has repeated, that the goal of DEI is equity, which is equal outcomes. Keep in mind that in some cultural circles, things like timeliness and math are racist. So we'll just have to work around those inconveniences to change the way we do successful business. Also to build bridges that don't collapse. -

I said going away, not gone away. Is your idea of an "intelligent" discussion a failed attempt at a squizzy-level semantic gotcha? I agree somewhat with this, but also, the road to Leftist hell is usually paid with good intentions. -
