If your point is to wuttabout that some people have a cult-like fascination with Trump, congrats?
-
Answered my own question: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/treasury-says-elon-musk-doge-has-read-only-access-to-payment-systems/ Not writing themselves checks, not stopping federal expenditures. What's the next concern from the Cult?
-
I think it's fair to question the oversight, or lack thereof. But it's funny that the Leftie Cult is tossing everything at this because Trump! Musk! We've debunked the "unelected" part I think. What's next, young engineers/tech bros? So, they are uncovering significant grift, and your takeaway is that some 22 yr old working for Musk is going to write himself a check? The check would bounce, USAID already stole it all.
-
You avoided my question. So, I take it we can end the "unelected" faux concern? Does Treasury or other departments ever hire contractors who aren't direct employees?
-
Unelected! Billionaires! I'll ask you the same question @TrailGuyavoided: who did you vote for to run or work in Treasury?
-
Moving past your cultist dehumanizing labels, who did you vote for to work in Treasury? To run Treasury? You imply that these people are elected after all.

Trump wants the U.S. to take over Gaza and relocate all the Palestinians
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
This is a good guess at what is happening. Trump also loves to launch trial balloons, so he could be saying this just to gauge reactions, particularly from leaders of the bad guys in the Middle East. Even so, I'm fairly confident that the US is not going to commandeer Gaza, evict millions of people, and build Mara Gaza. Gaza Lago? -
Well done!

Discussion of Concerns for Trump Presidency

Hey @Fnord, I appreciate you bumping this thread. I had planned to do so but have been kinda busy, and my intention with it was very much to track things as we entered the Trump era. Your concern is noted. If Trump dismantles the EPA, that would be a very valid concern. -
Definitely Mount Rushmore. Hard to put this over the Nafxaj Best Buy parking lot thread tho. I'm pretty sure I got a blister F5'ing that one.

Bingo. I copied and pasted "ignorant, bitter, hateful and downright nasty," from TrailGuy up thread. King of Life! -

This seems like a selfish move, and putting the stadium at an even higher risk for some terrorist attack.

Again, your lack of self-awareness is astounding. In a thread where you described Trump supporters as "ignorant, bitter, hateful and downright nasty," you are accusing me of being in a cult. Pseuds like you have have never tried to understand why people like Trump. Maybe you can't. It's easier for your simple minds to just use dehumanizing descriptors like above. -

Who are you? You have 1400+ posts so you've obviously posted here before. But I don't recognize you. Anyway, drink some cranberry juice and stop threatening to report people. -

I've heard that Sanderson puts out stuff on writing, and some day I plan to try to write a fantasy novel. But his own books are so $#@! long and I read at a slow/infrequent pace, so I would never finish them. My daughter is a voracious reader who reads freakishly fast. She loves Sanderson. I forget which series she is reading now. Sanderson is also good friends with Patrick Rothfuss IIRC, and I have read Rothfuss' "The Name of the Wind," but I'm not going to read the second book until he puts out the third and final book. I don't need another GOT unfinished story. Anyway, thanks for the rec, I'll check it out. -
Are you sure? I think the one Bill ran was specific to the SB only. Pick the winner and exact score. Closest score with the correct winner wins. That's how I remember it.

Interesting. I had this problem with The Shining, but in that case I felt like the movie drifted significantly from the book. I thought the GOT series kept to the story fairly accurately, then crashed and burned with the ending. My wife and I were fortunate to discover the books early, so we read them before the series started (well, he hasn't finished them ) but they were probably my favorite book series ever. I've heard that writing a book is like sailing across the ocean. The beginning is exciting as you watch your homeland slowly disappear into the horizon. Likewise, the ending is exciting as you approach the end of your journey. But most of it is just... open seas in every direction, with no sense of how far you need to go. I think Martin is stuck in the middle of that ocean. -

I struggle with it, so I guess it is a good exercise for me. I fancy myself more of a teller, and also pretty good at dialog. But someone like Anne Rice, who can spend 4 pages showing the beauty of a flower... yeah, I got too much engineer in me for that. -
Seriously, he can't be ignored? I wonder if he has run a league here. I've heard such people have limited mod powers, maybe that's why.

I'm in a writer's circle; in fact we are meeting in 90 minutes. We are currently working on communicating the senses; this is best done by showing vs. telling. Also, it is best to avoid adjectives and adverbs. So instead of "my pen moves quickly to sign this EO," Trump might say, "my pen glides over the parchment, the spring absorbing the harsh terrain as it paints the azure peaks and valleys that have become my signature." It's harder than it looks.
