This seems like a selfish move, and putting the stadium at an even higher risk for some terrorist attack.

Discussion of Concerns for Trump Presidency

Again, your lack of self-awareness is astounding. In a thread where you described Trump supporters as "ignorant, bitter, hateful and downright nasty," you are accusing me of being in a cult. Pseuds like you have have never tried to understand why people like Trump. Maybe you can't. It's easier for your simple minds to just use dehumanizing descriptors like above. -

Who are you? You have 1400+ posts so you've obviously posted here before. But I don't recognize you. Anyway, drink some cranberry juice and stop threatening to report people. -

I've heard that Sanderson puts out stuff on writing, and some day I plan to try to write a fantasy novel. But his own books are so $#@! long and I read at a slow/infrequent pace, so I would never finish them. My daughter is a voracious reader who reads freakishly fast. She loves Sanderson. I forget which series she is reading now. Sanderson is also good friends with Patrick Rothfuss IIRC, and I have read Rothfuss' "The Name of the Wind," but I'm not going to read the second book until he puts out the third and final book. I don't need another GOT unfinished story. Anyway, thanks for the rec, I'll check it out. -
Are you sure? I think the one Bill ran was specific to the SB only. Pick the winner and exact score. Closest score with the correct winner wins. That's how I remember it.

Interesting. I had this problem with The Shining, but in that case I felt like the movie drifted significantly from the book. I thought the GOT series kept to the story fairly accurately, then crashed and burned with the ending. My wife and I were fortunate to discover the books early, so we read them before the series started (well, he hasn't finished them ) but they were probably my favorite book series ever. I've heard that writing a book is like sailing across the ocean. The beginning is exciting as you watch your homeland slowly disappear into the horizon. Likewise, the ending is exciting as you approach the end of your journey. But most of it is just... open seas in every direction, with no sense of how far you need to go. I think Martin is stuck in the middle of that ocean. -

The bolded is very true. I don't think it's the group you mean, though. -

I struggle with it, so I guess it is a good exercise for me. I fancy myself more of a teller, and also pretty good at dialog. But someone like Anne Rice, who can spend 4 pages showing the beauty of a flower... yeah, I got too much engineer in me for that. -
Seriously, he can't be ignored? I wonder if he has run a league here. I've heard such people have limited mod powers, maybe that's why.

I'm in a writer's circle; in fact we are meeting in 90 minutes. We are currently working on communicating the senses; this is best done by showing vs. telling. Also, it is best to avoid adjectives and adverbs. So instead of "my pen moves quickly to sign this EO," Trump might say, "my pen glides over the parchment, the spring absorbing the harsh terrain as it paints the azure peaks and valleys that have become my signature." It's harder than it looks. -
Did you hear that the Chiefs are in the SB? Toofy would still post a bunch about it if they weren't; it's just a coincidence that the Chiefs are in it.

I wish you would quit quitting.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the fillers or surgery. A little well-placed botox, fine.

Hey @edjr, are you going to run the SB squares this year? I think you said you would, and we agreed to keep it at $5. Thanks buddy!
-
He's popped in a few times. IIRC he said he'd donate a megalodon toof for the playoff competition, and also one for the SB (hey, who runs that, we should get that going!).

I find it hard to not see trans as mental illness...
jerryskids replied to Fireballer's topic in The Geek Club
Mostly good post, but a few things. I think you are lumping multiple things into "transgender." There are a very small number of people who have gender dysphoria. But there are also others who have autogynephilia (when a man is aroused by thinking of himself as a woman), drag queens like edjr's uncle, and unfortunately, confused kids who are told by peers and "authorities" that they are the other gender. And of course the men who pretend to be women to get into safe spaces (15% of "women" in prisons are trans women, that's a bit higher than the 1%-ish of the population!). Sticking with the true gender dysphoria, that is a mental illness, like the other items you listed. If your mind thinks you are a different gender than your body is, that is a mental illness. That is independent of if the cause is biological, chemical, etc. Like the other ones you listed. The question is what we do about it. For all of your other items, we have combinations of medicines and therapies to treat them. But the only "treatment" we have for trans is to... help them trans. Is that like helping someone be depressed? Sociopathic? It seems odd to treat an illness in this manner. -
Kilroy does not seem like the type of person to make something up to win an internet fight. Also, since he is a recruiter, he wouldn't have standing for such a suit (he isn't the one harmed), and if he tried anyway, it would be a long, expensive endeavor that probably wouldn't amount to much besides making him a pariah in the recruiting industry.

Unpossible. Finance exec TrailGuy told me I was crazy. Used 3, maybe even 4 laugh emojis. That's a serious beatdown from a high level guy like that.
-
Good end of life plan. Hope that works out for you.

Finance pleeb who sucks at math. I tried to toss you an olive branch about our cancer journeys, but you chose instead to align with a chunky pseud who will die alone. Oh well, have a good night.

My brain is fine. Walk me through how my current "predicament" is some 10+ year old vendetta. So far, no one has offered to help me. Maybe a nobody pseud like yourself can fill in the blanks?
-
Although I must admit, your not one or two but three laugh emojis are quite compelling!
