20 degrees at the moment with lake effect snow in the forecast. Playing the odds.

Ravens/Bills parlay: Henry o 97.5 rushing Cook o 55.5 rushing Allen rush TD Jackson u 220.5 passing +950
-
Lost my parlay on the lack of Hurts INT. I know now why the odds were so bad; he doesn't throw much, and when he does, it's usually a screen pass. He doesn't do much as a QB besides run. Anyway, I know a lot of you ratards choose to live in weather like that (seasons, woot$#@!), but why does a multi-billion dollar industry based on athletic prowess decide a playoff winner in that stupid weather?

***Fantasy Geek Ball League 2024*** Is Clocaine the team to beat?
jerryskids replied to bostonlager's topic in The Geek Club
Congrats AD, and good season everyone. I'll try to suck slightly less next year. -
Although I wouldn't mind the Rams winning, for the suffering people of LA, and to rep the NFC West.
-
First game is Rams at Eagles. My parlay: Eagles -5.5 Hurts 1+ INT Barkley o 115.5 YDS +575
-
I lost a +500 parlay by 1/2 yard by Collins.

***MY Inaugural How Are Your Kids And Grandkids Thread***
jerryskids replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
Glad to hear the 19 yr old is doing better. I've got a 28 yr old boy, 26 and 23 yr old girls. All are gainfully employed and seem generally happy with life. The boy has a GF of several years that will probably become our DIL; I predict an engagement not long after his best friend's wedding in March. Older girl wants to meet Mr. Right. Unfortunately, she is a hard-core Leftie who thinks she wants a soy boy, but she's also a total alpha female who would never be happy with such a guy. Hopefully she eventually grows up and figures it out. Younger girl is the one in NY; she works in the fashion industry and lives with a gay guy friend from Phoenix, so basically every guy she knows is gay. I was happy to learn during her visit over the holidays that she would like to date, and has set a goal to do so this year. So... no grandkids yet, but I'm cautiously optimistic, particularly for my boy. When I got cancer and the prognosis of death, I was hoping to just see them all graduate college and get settled. Now that that has happened and I seem to be not dying, I feel like I'm playing with house money. Any accomplishment I get to experience will be a blessing. -
Chiefs/Texans is a 1-point game late in the third. This flag on a late hit on Mahomes is just tragically pathetic. He literally turtled at the last second.

Agreed. 2 minutes is a silly underestimate. That opus took a lot of time to put together. Autistic TimHauck probably didn't notice tho.

Timmy’s list of unpleasant facts.
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
No. Although it would be a more interesting question if we could truly provide 100% functional male and female organs, with the associated hormones. Even then though, I would call it more like "converted" vs. "cured." As it is now, we are just cutting off some parts and pasting on pretend other parts. That might give some folks with gender dysphoria some level of increased comfort, but it certainly doesn't "cure" them. How would you modify my definition? -
Timmy’s list of unpleasant facts.
jerryskids replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
So much wrong with that list Tim copied and pasted. I'll start with transgenderism, which is, clinically, a mental disease. If your brain thinks you are a different gender than your body actually is, then that is an example of your brain not working properly. Now, perhaps you don't like the negative connotations of the word "disease" and would like to use something else, I get that. The argument "well, it's normal to them!" does not hold water. You can say that about any mental disease. Depression is normal for a depressed person. We can argue whether or not we should try to treat transgenderism, vs. our current societal desire to not only accept but to celebrate it. Those are differences of opinion. But it is a fact that transgenderism is a mental disease. -
Israel-Hamas cease-fire deal proves Trump’s a better prez out of office than Biden was in it
jerryskids replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Appreciate the kind words, Fnord. I never served, but years ago I went to the funeral of my wife's uncle. He was a career MP (Army, I think), but I only knew him from his post-military life. I knew him well enough, but not that well. Regardless, that ceremony with the flag and Taps... OMG I was a blithering idiot. It's weird, the things that move you. I find for me it is usually music, like the lyrics to Annie's Song by John Denver when I was facing death from cancer ("let me die in your arms..."). So maybe it was Taps, I dunno. Anyway, sorry for the it's all about meeeeee$#@!... and sorry for your FIL. -

I've become a bit of an amateur astronomer in recent years, at least on the theoretical side (haven't gotten into telescopes/observation yet, perhaps this year). Anyway, think about "opposition." Tiny little earth becomes perfectly aligned to block the Sun from Mars. How perfect of a 2D "disc" does the solar system need to be for that to happen? I understand a little of the physics which causes a spinning collection of junk to consolidate into a disc-like shape, but it's still impressive.

The state of America as Trump assumes Power
jerryskids replied to The Psychic Observer's topic in The Geek Club
If you want a serious discussion Gutter, you won't use the last month of border crossing data as the metric. Rather, you will use the data from all 48 months. Also, 2.9% is almost 50% higher than the typical 2% the Fed wants before lowering interest rates. But they lowered them anyway. We'll see if they are as cooperative with Trump. -

Seems like your own article discusses it under its "unanswered questions." Besides, I'm told by the Lefties that the vast majority of Palestinians just want peace, so surely they would install a peace-loving government, right? -
Gawd, that accent was the worst part of my four years there. Also I was going to say: how can you be racist? You were born and raised in the suburbs of Boston, that bastion of Democrat liberal acceptance. There is no racism there!

I think you know the answer: the QB position has evolved to where athleticism is more valuable than in the past. As such, there is an acceptable tradeoff of more athleticism for less intelligence. Of course, the ideal is both, but there aren't that many such people growing on quarterback trees.
