  1. If he gives away a ton of money between now and then, it might leave a dent. Should we not comment on it?
  2. Never got into Skoal, although I'm confident I started with it. Once I found Kodiak I did that for a while, but then moved to Grizzly because it was almost as good, cheaper, and didn't have that rumor about putting crushed glass in it to cut your lip and increase the nicotine/carcinogen intake.
  3. I'm inclined to agree with this. A lame-duck POTUS should not be able to do much other than prep for the new person. Both sides do it; this isn't aimed at Biden specifically, definitely the pardons. Although I don't recall Trump doing stuff like this Ukraine thing on his way out. This is however a unique situation, because Biden isn't running anything. Whoever is running the country clearly wants to make a statement with these moves.

I hope to never reach a point of wine snobbery where I am meh about Silver Oak. Although I will say, we really enjoyed Kathryn Hall wines. We've got a bottle from our trip on our top shelf which we plan to open next September 29, which is the 5 year anniversary of my cancer surgery.

My wife and I laugh about this every year. We've lived here 35 years, and every year, no matter the winter weather, it means high chance of fires. Rainy winter? Your first paragraph, more plants that will dry out, more fires! Dry winter? Your last paragraph, even dryer plants, more fires! We've never once heard them say "you know what? There won't be a high chance of fires this season." To your middle paragraph -- 6 years ago we went to Napa for our 25th anniversary; stayed in Healdsburg -- home of the big red wines, and @Bier Meisterset up a semi-private tour of Silver Oak which was phenomenal. Anyway, one morning we took a break from day drinking and hiked an area just north of town. We were amazed at the density of the gorse/brush, and how dry it was. I mean, it looked like if a fire started, it would just zoom through the entire area with nothing to stop it.

Sorry to hear about the losses of your families' houses, @The Real timschochetand @jonmx I'm worried about a few geeks. Somebody mentioned @OldMaid. I think she might live in/near the area of the Palisades Fire. @SUXBNMEor @BunnysBastatrds, do you have a fax number for her? I think @nobodyhas checked in, but if not, I presume he works south of LAX based on his industry, which should be fine. Not sure where he lives though. My guess would be inland a little from Redondo Beach, also safe. Also, doesn't @squistionlive in/near Pasadena? That's the site of the Eaton fire. He claims to have me on ignore, but if any of you FBG Lefties know how to send him a carrier pigeon, it would be good to get a check in. Somebody mentioned @mobb_deep -- I'm not sure where he lives, but he used to work in Irvine which is not in danger. Also I'm changing the title to 100K evacuations.

Yes son? In addition to being less of a Leftist sheep, you should smoke less, drink less, exercise more, and I'm not getting any younger, some grandkids would be nice!

Honestly, I didn't think about it much at all. Every year I make a spreadsheet and fock around with different combos. I think I started with Hurts at QB, but settled on Barkley at RB. Hurts at QB is the kind of bold move that can win it for you or put you in the toilet. I haven't looked at the rest of your lineup, but I wouldn't change it. I don't think I've won this, although I've come in second a time or more. But @WhiteWonderdoesn't list first losers in the OP.

    Biggest threat to America?

Yeah, those are equivalent. Thanks for proving my point. I expected better from you, duly noted.
  13. Sigh... a place where Canada is directly south of the US. @Mike Honchoknows, it's a Detroit thing.
  14. Part of Windsor, Canada is actually south of Detroit. Look on a map.
  15. The fact that Detroit is the only place in the US north of Canada is another useless factoid my wife has regaled me with. Actually, it isn't totally useless, as it helped me answer a crossword puzzle a few days ago.
  16. Was Swedish Crap, I've confused Denmark and the Netherlands. They are all the same to me. Trump, invade away!
  17. I was meh with Copenhagen back in my chew days. Kodiak or Grizzly though, them's fightin' words! My wife, also from Detroit, brings this up every time we hear that song. Which, in 35 years, is a lot of times. We are looking at installing the Pax closet system from Ikea, which I believe is a Danish company. A Trump war with Denmark could impact supply chain, so for now, I oppose it.

The wind gusts might be more of a problem. I'm not sure how long that's expected to continue. Rams/Vikes isn't until Monday though, so I would think the winds would pass by then.
  19. It's turrble here. Tons of people live in Phoenix and have little/no experience in snow. Then they drive a few hours north to Flagstaff to see the snow, whee! I've driven home from Flag during a snowstorm and there are so many vehicles which slid off the side of the road, it looks like a dystopian post-apocalyptic movie.

I doubt it. The stadium is 20+ miles southeast of the fires. I suppose the air might be dirtier than usual if the winds are right. But I can't see it being canceled.

Trump: We're going to rename it the Gulf of America

Greenland makes a lot of military/strategic sense, to help surround Russia (Greenland is 2K miles closer than the US, straight line over the Arctic). It's also a comparable distance but different angle from China. I don't know if we'll acquire it, and we already have a Space Force / NORAD base there (Pituffik). I heard somebody describe what's going on now as the closest thing we've had to a monarch, but only for two more weeks. The combination of Trump being bombastic, NOT being the actual POTUS, and Biden being basically dead, allow Trump to say and do just about anything he wants, and the world is, as the Lefties here say, "bending the knee." But come 1/20, he'll be the POTUS, and he can't be as Trumpian, because he'll actually have authority to do stuff. We'll see how it plays out.

These winds are not the Santa Ana winds; they are something else because they are hitting us as well (although not nearly as bad, yet anyway). We have had a drought as well, even for a desert. It hadn't rained here in months until... ... I was going to type the above this morning, but I had a kitten on my lap so I just thought about it. A few minutes later I looked outside, and it was drizzling. Not much, but when you've had zero for so long, it seemed like God had answered a small prayer. The coming 4-6 weeks are one of our two "rainy" seasons, hopefully we get some because we've been severely lacking.
