U.S. Military Kills Another 6 People in 5th Caribbean Strike, Trump Says

Or every 3-4 days, that’s OK too. -

Department of Justice opens criminal investigation into NY AG Letitia James
TimHauck replied to jbycho's topic in The Geek Club
Says she received rent in 2020 only. Likely before the family member moved in. -
I think that’s true for Trump’s team for sure. Almost all of the important females in his admin are arguably good looking (even though many have had the help of plastic surgery). Noem, Gabbard, Leavitt, Bondi, McLaughlin, etc. Although interestingly most of the men are not people that women would find attractive

What is worse. Being a professional (paid) Protester or doing it for free at FFT
TimHauck replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I’ve watched a few more of this Friedman guy’s videos. He’s actually very respectful in his interviews and is pretty knowledgeable in his research. But his schtick with the “paid protesters” seems to focus on people that are actual employees of nonprofits and such that organize protests. Again not really what most uneducated MAGA’s probably think of when they hear “paid protesters.” -

Not exactly a “lie” here, but here they were using Theo Von in a meme video without his permission, and he wasn’t happy about it

Then, why Portland? Are you going to provide any evidence that it is currently “war ravaged,” or you just going to make condescending posts about the people in animal costumes? I noticed you ignored my earlier post where I noted that even their own police department described the protests as “low energy” and often having less than 20 people.

So, send the National Guard to any city where crime happens?

Not sure what Charlie Kirk has to do with protests against ICE? -
Yup, better watch out for those people in animal costumes and 84 year old Vietnam veterans with walkers.
-
C’mon Jerry, who is saying there is absolutely no crime in Portland? Sure there’s some, but it ranks probably somewhere around #100 among US cities. Having it be one of the first cities to send the National Guard to and calling it “war-ravaged” is laughable.

The main current protest is outside of the ICE facility. Even the Portland police have described it as “low energy” and often made up of less than 20 people.

Labor Department warns that ICE enforcement is driving up food prices

I’ve posted this previously in here, it’s a little dated but agriculture is the second most right-leaning industry in terms of donations to Republicans on this list . https://finance.yahoo.com/news/charts-show-political-bias-workers-215100215.html -

Most MAGA’s don’t put their money where their mouth is. There is a guy on x named Derek something that likes to call out numerous MAGA “influencers” that source merch from sweatshops, it’s pretty funny. Even here, Strike claimed he had a buddy in the construction industry that “had to” hire illegals.” Except he doesn’t. If there is a demand for companies that don’t use illegal labor, you can advertise that fact and people should be willing to pay more. -

I’m no agricultural expert, is it even that common for illegal farm workers to get less than minimum wage? I would’ve figured they typically got something like $15-$20/hour, which to your point is still probably not enough for many of the locals to do it. -
I’ve seen it stated here (without evidence of course) that the mass deportations will solve the housing affordability crisis. I don’t understand how people can actually think this with a straight face. I’ve acknowledged that illegal immigration surely had some localized impacts on home prices & rents, but it’s mainly going to be at the lowest price levels, and of course only in areas where the illegals are actually going to (yet in 2020-2022 prices went up pretty much everywhere). More competition for cheap apartments in higher-crime areas isn’t going to lead to suburban homes costing $750K+. Here is some data with more reasons it’s likely not illegal immigration driving increased housing costs on a national basis: https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/blog/role-recent-immigrant-surge-housing-costs The surge in housing prices was driven by the pandemic in 2020, when immigration was at its lowest levels. And actually cooled down in 2023, despite the continued surge in immigration. And in 2024, several cities with large illegal immigrant populations, such as Houston and Tampa, saw no essentially increase or in the case of Tampa, a decline in home prices. https://www.fastcompany.com/91279086/housing-market-shift-where-home-prices-are-starting-to-fall IMO, if home prices come down in the next few years, it’s going to be driven by increases in unemployment. Of course I know if that happens people will claim it was because of mass deportations. But sticking to the present, I’m curious to see if anyone has any actual data to back up the claim that illegal immigration is a major factor in national home prices.

Yes, thanks for agreeing with me (and disagreeing with Vance) that illegals weren’t driving up overall home prices nationally -

Still hilarious to me that people think mass deportations are going to bring down the prices of $500k+ homes in the suburbs
