In general the biggest price increases actually occurred in 2022, after Covid was pretty much over. But yes some of businesses’ costs did come down in 2023 & 2024 and many prices to consumers didn’t.

I thought this was an interesting video. I don’t know who this person is (although she has 300K+ subscribers), but basically she wants to say really badly how Cracker Barrel is “going woke” and “alienating their target market,” but when she goes inside she notes that various aspects are “cute,” “remind her of her grandma’s house,” notes that they sell a lot of Patriotic items and books about Bible verses, and says some of the items she ordered “taste homemade.” She says this is the first time she’s ever been to a Cracker Barrel, but ends with saying she had a good experience. Maybe their strategy was to get conservatives to go there to complain but then actually like it?

He’s referring to the court order that you were wrong about a month ago but then forgot you said anything about. It doesn’t prevent them from deporting him, it just says they need to give him a 72 hour notice of what country they plan to send him to, give him an opportunity to argue if he has a credible fear of going to that country, and ensure that that country isn’t going to send him to El Salvador.

Yeah this is in reference to the court order Strike previously brought up but was wrong about, and then forgot that he brought it up.

I guess you missed that I added allegedly. We do know for sure that Israel killed more journalists and medical personnel with this incident. Any comment?

As long as they don’t put him in a prison like last time, or drop him in the middle of the jungle or something, does it matter where he goes? Couldn’t he get a flight somewhere else?

Correct me if I’m wrong here but your comment about trying to be a restaurant for everyone was specific to in the past. By saying they’re “doubling down on the same target market” now, I thought you were implying that you think the new strategy isn’t really to be a restaurant for everyone. I know I mentioned they didn’t say they were catering ONLY to blacks but maybe focusing on them the most, so maybe that’s what you were saying. You also said “If blacks were already their largest market (possibly by a wide margin) and the business was failing, doubling down on the same target market is not likely a winning strategy.” My point in response to that was to say I don’t think they did anything to drive away blacks specifically. So I do think that trying to get back the customers that were their largest market to begin with, probably is a winning strategy (if they do it right of course).

I’m no Red Lobster expert but here’s a rare well researched CNN article with some background on what went wrong previously: https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/03/food/red-lobster-seafood-restaurant-bankruptcy/index.html It seems a lot of their troubles can be traced back to first being sold to private equity, and then being sold to their largest supplier (it was their idea for permanent endless shrimp). So I’d doubt blacks stopped eating there at a higher rate than any other group, in which case it would make sense to spend effort trying to get them back specifically. But I didn’t get the impression from the article that they didn’t want to be a place for everyone anyway.

Probably worth noting that when even Max O is saying it doesn’t look good, you know this is not an uncommon opinion…
