I’d be curious to know where Vinay Prasad stood on this decision. But I know we’ll never know. Based on the dozens, maybe hundreds of studies that were done on the mRNA covid vaccines, the primary risk came from the second dose, which was recommended only 3 weeks after the first. IIRC when the doses were spread out more there were significantly less adverse events.

Outside of a once in a century pandemic, pharma companies make far less money on vaccines than they do on treatments that people need to take continuously (like the drug for muscular dystrophy that Vinay Prasad halted which cost patients millions of dollars each, so they paid people to smear him and get him to resign from the FDA.). That’s why they need incentive to develop vaccines.
