I’m sure they didn’t intend for him to get brain damage, but sometimes bullying goes wrong, and it’s a reason why people shouldn’t do it. Another difference between shaming and bullying is that shaming occurs in response to someone doing something wrong. Bullying occurs just because the bully feels like it.

I said it was shaming to put a magnet on someone’s car because they didn’t put their shopping cart back. It’s bullying to lock someone in a car overnight. You don’t think the two are comparable, do you?

Someone claiming to be a former friend says in high school he smoked weed every day despite being allergic to it. Then one day his “friends” “clam-baked” him in a locked car full of weed and other drugs and he wasn’t found until the next day and suffered brain damage, and never returned to school after that.
