Good centrist analysis here. TL/DW: the initial intelligence assessment was based on some shoddy information, but when they ultimately did the investigation it turned out to be justified. Of course the ends shouldn’t justify the means so that’s still wrong, but not something that comes close to being able to be charged with treason for. And the timing of this is clearly meant to distract from Epstein.

Before the viral convo with Powell & Trump, multiple media articles cited an originally approved plan from 2019 of $1.9 billion for 2 buildings which is now at $2.5 billion, a ~30% increase. That’s probably in line with what the increases in construction costs were post-Covid, so unless the budget only increased in the past couple years (not totally clear), then that increase makes sense. But Trump said $3.1 billion in the video which is why Powell corrected him.
