Unlike Biden/Harris, here’s another Dem I’ll vote for. My favorite politician out there right now, running for NC Attorney General: -

Yeah it’s possible someone may have misspoke. But it’s also possible they lied, and considering the story has now changed to “sheriff”s department” and there has yet to be any actual evidence that this happened, that’s looking more likely. -

Are you familiar with digby’s posting history here? When he’s not constantly falling for fake news, he’s constantly lying about all the different jobs and training he’s had. Not surprised we can add hurricane relief hero to the list. He claims to have been there for 5 days, yet made several posts Thursday and was posting for multiple hours on Saturday. If that was after he had returned, odd that he didn’t mention anything about pulling dead bodies from debris then, and waited to do so until going on an unhinged rant directed at me. -

I do not have confidence the MSM is being unbiased, and basically said that by saying the Hurricane gives them more ammo for “climate change.” I also think X is a great source for real time reporting, and do not think it should go away (nor have I ever said that). But as the thread I shared stated, the main issue now IMO is that misinformation is being monetized. The posts don’t need to be censored, but they could do a better job with community notes and ensuring that if posts/users get too many community notes that they should not be eligible for payments. -

And yet no one can find who/what department actually said it, weird -

Disagree. Although I’m not sure what exactly you mean by the MSM would downplay “it.” Because you’re generally a reasonable person, I’m going to assume by “it” you mean the overall destruction from the hurricane. It’s a natural disaster, so any sane person should know it’s no party’s fault and thus there is not really any bad for Dems that can come from the MSM covering it, which they have been (albeit maybe off to a slower start due to literally not being able to get there). If anything it gives them more ammo on “climate change.” Although now the coverage has seemingly shifted to covering the misinformation coming from social media, so hopefully that isn’t the “it” you were referring to. Besides, the MSM loves covering bad news. Remember Covid and daily trackers of how many cases and deaths? I’m sure you’ll say they only did that because they could blame it on Trump, yet IIRC pretty sure even Fox News had those trackers for awhile. I just shared this thread on the Twitter thread which references Helene. The issue isn’t stories being shared on X, the issue is LIES being INCENTIVIZED by X, due to users getting paid based on engagement. -

I guess in the past few days the story must have changed from “NC state police” (which doesn’t exist) to mystery “sheriffs departments” Digby/ @F1erce might be the easiest mark for fake news I’ve ever seen -
Twitter adopts 'poison pill' to prevent Elon Musk takeover

Moving away from Musk himself, I thought this was a good thread discussing things I’ve mentioned before. TL/DR: free speech is great, but X is now incentivizing hate speech (such as Nazi accounts I’ve linked to previously) and lying for engagement (Springfield and Helene being some of the latest examples) No clue who this guy is, just popped up on my feed (so thanks Elon for not throttling it) -

When were you there and when did you leave? You don’t need cell service to use your camera. And lol that you think the “entire state sheriffs department” (which I’m pretty sure isn’t even a thing) threatened to arrest FEMA. Good lord you’re dumb. -

The people that have actually pulled dead bodies out are heroes. I just don’t believe you’re one of them. But please share your videos and point out when you make an appearance. I’ve been watching a bunch of first hand accounts and have shared some here so would love to see more. TIA -

C’mon, zero chance digby pulled a dead body from debris. Maybe he dropped off a case of water so that he could have an excuse to take pictures. -

You don’t think an assistant fire chief counts as law enforcement? The town manager even backed him up after the fact. For the record, I think the assistant fire chief was in the wrong, and I agree he was just on a power trip. When that incident came up previously, it was used as evidence of “see they (with they being implied as state or federal government) are blocking volunteer efforts!” My point was that that decision had nothing to do with state or federal direction, glad we agree! -

Of course FEMA is not going to make contact with literally every single person directly, and yet people are saying “well I haven’t personally seen FEMA, so that must mean they were never here”
