Trump's Approval Among Latinos Drops 32 Points Amid Immigration Crackdown
TimHauck replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
So are you saying that prices have increased BECAUSE of an increase in illegal labor? If so, how? -

Illegal Immigration and the Impact on National Home Prices
TimHauck replied to TimHauck's topic in The Geek Club
This stat proves illegal immigration isn’t a significant driver in home prices broadly. It’s okay @jonnyutah, you can admit it. -
I’ve seen it stated here (without evidence of course) that the mass deportations will solve the housing affordability crisis. I don’t understand how people can actually think this with a straight face. I’ve acknowledged that illegal immigration surely had some localized impacts on home prices & rents, but it’s mainly going to be at the lowest price levels, and of course only in areas where the illegals are actually going to (yet in 2020-2022 prices went up pretty much everywhere). More competition for cheap apartments in higher-crime areas isn’t going to lead to suburban homes costing $750K+. Here is some data with more reasons it’s likely not illegal immigration driving increased housing costs on a national basis: https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/blog/role-recent-immigrant-surge-housing-costs The surge in housing prices was driven by the pandemic in 2020, when immigration was at its lowest levels. And actually cooled down in 2023, despite the continued surge in immigration. And in 2024, several cities with large illegal immigrant populations, such as Houston and Tampa, saw no essentially increase or in the case of Tampa, a decline in home prices. https://www.fastcompany.com/91279086/housing-market-shift-where-home-prices-are-starting-to-fall IMO, if home prices come down in the next few years, it’s going to be driven by increases in unemployment. Of course I know if that happens people will claim it was because of mass deportations. But sticking to the present, I’m curious to see if anyone has any actual data to back up the claim that illegal immigration is a major factor in national home prices.

Trump's Approval Among Latinos Drops 32 Points Amid Immigration Crackdown
TimHauck replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
I’m betting his theory will be that their work is sh1tty so that means roofs need to be replaced more, creating more demand. But even if work has gotten sh1ttier, I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to blame it on illegals since illegals can do good work, and I’d need to see numbers that the % of illegals working in roofing has actually increased significantly in recent years, seems like there have probably always been a lot. -

Because claiming that illegals are the reason home prices NATIONALLY, TO BUY are so high is what’s really la la land stuff. I acknowledge that illegals will increase rent prices in areas where there are a lot of them. But primarily at the lower end, and not in areas where there aren’t a lot of illegals, yet home prices went up similar amounts almost everywhere, at all price brackets. And the huge increases recently really started in 2020/2021, partly before Biden could have a chance to take down razor wire, and definitely before it could have had any noticeable impact on the housing market. Edit: And then you blamed illegals for increasing housing costs in Cook County despite the population going down, which completely contradicts your claim above, lol. Even data that you shared yourself said even in places like Houston their effect was somewhere around 1%. -

I’m not denying that roofing costs have gone up. But are you implying that you think prices have gone up BECAUSE of illegals? If so, please explain why you think that is. This reminds me of covid vax conversations where people like you would say the vax must not have worked because people still died, when most likely, more people would have died without it (and here, costs likely would have gone up even more if less illegals were being employed). I’d also be curious to see stats on an alleged increase in illegals as a % of total roofing workers. I feel like there’s probably always been a lot of illegals working in roofing and I’d be surprised if the % has really increased that dramatically. -

Enlighten me. I’m guessing your claim will be that the illegals don’t know what they’re doing so roofs need to be replaced more often than they should be. I’d need to see some data to back that up. Because the laws of economics would say that if they’re doing a crappy job, those companies wouldn’t do well, or at the very least management would realize they’re doing a crappy job and either teach them to do better or hire someone else that will. And if they pay more for labor, they’d likely charge the consumer more. I would assume another factor increasing demand has been the boom in new construction being built overall. I guess you’ll try to blame that on all the illegals buying up new construction housing and then I’ll laugh at you again. edit: also I can’t speak to roofing specifically, but I know in a prior conversation with @Strike I mentioned I’ve often seen better work from guys that didn’t speak English (albeit maybe they weren’t illegal) than from Americans. Just because they’re illegal doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing. -

How much are they offering people to self-deport? $1k right? Seems like they should bump it to $5-$10k and they’d probably have the same results, and also save on legal fees for deportation hearings. -
Illegal Immigration and the Impact on National Home Prices
TimHauck replied to TimHauck's topic in The Geek Club
Bahahahaha Secretary of HUD thinks illegal immigration is why real estate costs are so high. I really hope it doesn’t happen, but it’s looking like my prediction may come true. House prices will come down because of increased unemployment, and righties will claim it was because of deportations. -
Yes I do agree with your point about plausible deniability

Never heard of the account until today, while I agree with you I also agree with the interpretation of the text messages. Based on the question that was asked, “I got you covered” sounds like approval for TPUSA’s own security to go up there.

Now some locals are doing the thing like happened in LA where they claim traffic is all of the sudden gone because the illegals aren’t on the road. I was in it this morning and it was pretty terrible still. -

I searched Rybolovlev on x, and this email was probably more interesting to me, with Epstein suggesting Trump was paid off for “overruling Congress on Yemen.”
