  1. There wasn’t much more to it, except one sentence before talking about the stillbirth. Yes, I do tend to take things journalists say with a grain of salt, unless they are attributing direct quotes or providing links to primary sources. Unlike you, who apparently will believe whatever a journalist writes. Kinda like you did with the CBS News article about the kid in North Dakota which was proven false and you never admitted to believing fake news.
  2. A journalist writing “the deadline slipped by them,” with no direct quote from the family, does not make it a “fact” that they knew about the deadline at the time. HTH
  3. So the interpretation in your mind of what you read is fact, got it. Thanks for the spirited, intelligent discussion.
  4. That’s just the author trying to be dramatic. They didn’t say they definitely did know about it either (edit: maybe they did, but we don’t know for sure). You’re the one doing that. Claiming it’s a fact despite that not actually being stated.
  5. It’s still not clear how they learned the form was missing. Even you have said “suggests” multiple times, so you don’t know what is a “FACT” about the form. One possibility is that they first learned that the form was missed after he was detained and they were trying to find out why. And they could have then been told the form was due 2 years after their marriage, and then might have thought “oh that’s when we had a stillborn.” It’s also possible they knew they missed the form at the time. But they may have figured there was no point in sending it in after the deadline had passed, especially if according to them they were in consistent communication with immigration officials (and some sort of “portal”) who they claim never said anything about the missing form. The thing about the stillborn is not a direct quote from the family, it’s just a paraphrasing from the article’s author. I’m sure the family talked about it with the author, but it’s actually not even mentioned in the wife’s statement on their gofundme. This is though: “On April 15, 2025, we headed to Memphis for his final interview where we were met by ICE agents and Kasper was detained for paperwork miscommunication in 2015. We were not notified of this at any point over the years nor did it ever show up in his USCIS portal or any of our previous interviews/appointments.”

  10. They claim they were specifically told “nothing was outstanding” in 2024
  11. According to the family, they were never notified that he was here illegally, and the meeting where he was detained was thought to be an interview to obtain citizenship

    Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”

Thank you. So they call them cash but cash also includes credit cards. Clear as mud.
  13. It’s kinda not though In Kocher’s analysis, since January, detentions of immigrants with no convictions or charges have had a relative growth three times greater than those of convicted criminals—the consequence of the cold logic that the easiest place to find immigrants to detain is at scheduled meetings.

  16. Over the last year, the messages he received from their immigration portal seemed encouraging. “We are actively reviewing your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization,” a message on Sept. 12, 2024, read. “Our records showed nothing is outstanding at this time.” Then, on March 7 of this year, “We scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.”

  19. I look at it kinda like Abrego Garcia. If they want to deport him, fine. Deport him. But don’t keep him locked in a cell for a month. He has not been accused of any crime other than missing a form.
  20. It’s not clear. His wife is on record as stating that the meeting where he was detained was supposed to be his “final interview” for citizenship, and they were supposedly never notified that it still needed to be completed though: Via their gofundme link: “On April 15, 2025, we headed to Memphis for his final interview where we were met by ICE agents and Kasper was detained for paperwork miscommunication in 2015. We were not notified of this at any point over the years nor did it ever show up in his USCIS portal or any of our previous interviews/appointments. He has been detained and is being held in an ICE facility in Louisiana for over a month now.”
  21. He thought he was here legally, was regularly meeting with immigration officials.

    Goodbye COVID vaccines

When was his illness? I’m skeptical that so many people claim to have had Covid in 2019, but it’s possible a few did.
