I doubt this story is true, but if so, the bigger concern to me is if you could tell the person was likely a meth-head. I’m sure it is far more common for there to be incidents in men’s bathrooms perpetrated by actual men.

I guess there’s a miniscule chance he was placing the bets for Ohtani, but the most likely scenario seems to be what was said initially, that Ohtani paid his friend’s debt. Although I think I saw something saying he made multiple payments, so I guess it’s also possible Ohtani was financing his friend’s gambling. But yeah, the “theft” line is clearly a lie which they only started saying after they realized Ohtani would be in big trouble.
