I’ve been to many coastal communities particularly in the southeast, and with all the development in the past ~20 years, those areas you mention are getting fewer and fewer from what I’ve seen. Many of the people that work in coastal communities live 20+ miles away. I’d agree that for the really bad like once every 5-10+ year type storm then the lower income areas get hit harder, but for the more common medium-intensity hurricanes, their impact seems to be more focused close to the coast IMO. And of course even when lower income areas are impacted, that doesn’t necessarily mean many of the people impacted are immigrants as @jonnyutah implies. But I’ll admit I’m not an insurance adjuster, so would be curious if there is actual data on this. Also going back to @jonnyutah’s comment, I’ll acknowledge that “population increases” contribute to increased cost of damage, but if we’re talking coastal areas, that population increase is driven by Americans wanting to move to desirable areas, not illegal immigrants

The election is in over a month. Everyone still alive will be able to go vote IMO. Which makes the question to me which side will have more people die. For NC in particular, hard to say, I’d say probably about a wash. Asheville was the biggest city hit hard and is a lib stronghold, but other areas hit hard are not. Libs would have been more likely to go somewhere else before the storm hit, but righties would know better how to handle it once it came.

The issue is really with the NCAA. I believe they specifically allow transgender athletes as long as they meet specific hormone requirements. So if the NCAA permits it I don’t see how a school could prohibit it.

Agree that she should not be on a woman’s team, but per usual, this seems to be being blown out of proportion. The team is not even ranked in the top 25 and Fleming doesn’t even appear to be the best player on the team, which would suggest the “safety concern” is being overblown. Also apparently the teammate that filed a lawsuit lived with Fleming for awhile before even realizing they were trans. So much for @weepaws being able to identify trannies going to the bathroom so he can beat them up.
