Sounds like you’re describing Roy Cooper from NC, but I want him to be President eventually and not wasted on a ticket with Kamala.
-
Not sure if this has been posted. Interesting if the timing is accurate. Also just realized there was a woman behind Trump wearing a shirt that said “mean tweets.” Hopefully she didn’t blame “rhetoric” for the shooting.
-
No, your long post was not about the response, it was you saying you “weren’t surprised” that someone tried to assassinate Trump because of the rhetoric coming from the left. Were you also “not surprised” by Gabby Giffords being shot after Sarah Palin put her in the crosshairs, a woman being murdered over a pride flag, or gays being killed in a mass shooting in Colorado Springs (and no @Strike, the shooter was not non-binary)?
-
@RLLD seemed to be the one making claims initially, and @Herbivore was just calling him out. @RLLD said “the rhetoric started” with people towards Trump. @Herbivore said no it started at minimum with Palin/Giffords and @RLLD said no it didn’t it started with people towards Trump. So the only way that would make any sense would be if @RLLD didn’t think Biden’s bullseye comment was “dangerous rhetoric”

The state police, not county (of which multiple county police teams were present anyway), were tasked with securing the building where Crooks shot from, according to the NY Post. https://nypost.com/2024/07/15/us-news/counter-sniper-team-was-inside-building-where-thomas-crooks-opened-fire/

Sounds like you agree that the MSM saying “crosshairs,” “bullseye,” or “Trump is the end of democracy” aren’t that bad because only already crazy people will actually act on it.
-
It’s kinda sad that “standard issue school shooter” is a thing.
-
Sounds more like he was just nuts. Like Crooks.
-
Well to play devil’s advocate, is the embarrassment of being handcuffed on a plane but then quickly being cleared of any wrongdoing be worthy of a presumably seven figure lawsuit, particularly for someone that I assume is already wealthy? IMO a fair response from both sides would be he gets free flights for life or something.
-
Seems like you haven’t forgotten
-
Why was she shot?
-
Please never accuse me of taking someone’s quotes out of context, hypocrite
-
I can’t speak for @Herbivore, but I didn’t have a problem with it. But anyone complaining about Biden saying “bullseye” should have also complained about Palin. I would agree that Biden bringing that up and saying it was different was dumb.
-
Also righties: But the right’s rhetoric is slightly less bad! I’m not a lefty, but yes your second paragraph could be accurate if it is proven he was actually a Republican. If he was so gullible as to fall for anti-Trump rhetoric from the MSM, then IMO he would most likely fall in line with the MSM and vote Dem. Hating Trump but otherwise voting Republican isn’t a terribly common stance, so the most likely scenario would be that he formed those opinions on his own and wasn’t really influenced by rhetoric from the MSM. I think RealTim may be saying something similar but I am consistent in believing that rhetoric from the MSM and the politicians themselves isn’t really what’s contributing to attacks that have happened on either side. I do think “rhetoric” from places like social media could have played a role in this as well as other past incidents, but IMO the MSM and politicians “lowering the temperature” isn’t really going to “lower the temperature” of the crazy sh1t people say on social media. Speaking of, I’m still shocked they haven’t discovered any of Crooks’ social media. @nobody, are you going to apologize for lying by saying I thought the Trump yard signs were his?
-
Can you share his quote about undocumented immigrants and crime? I can’t seem to find it, although I see he has made comments claiming the net job growth has gone to non-Americans and that he thinks Dems are allowing immigrants in so they will vote Dem. I don’t really agree with those opinions particularly the first one, but they don’t make him racist.
-
To confirm, you didn’t have a problem with Biden’s “bullseye” comment, correct?
-
Not your keys, not your crypto, racist
-
Yeah I’m not doubting what you’re saying, just think best ball leagues are dumb

Elon Musk Confirmed Tesla Optimus Gen 2 (working robot) Produced At $10K (to manufacture)
TimHauck replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Damnit Ed, I thought you were talking about a car. Also the video says the price would be $10-$20k, and that $10k was the cost to make it. -
Yup, switched back to Fox News. They just interviewed someone who must follow Libs of Tik Tok, talking about randos on x that were upset the shooter missed.
-
Well Fox News is still attacking. Just turned on CNN. They are at the RNC interviewing some Republicans. One guy simply talking about Republicans trying to pick up more minority votes, guy now talking about the bill to increase secret service protection for the candidates and the mistakes that were made at the rally. Now they are talking about Vance, haven’t heard anyone complain about him calling Trump Hitler. Now MSNBC. They did bring up the Hitler comments (but of course so did Fox News and I Iike his answer which MSNBC showed). Also commenting that Vance isn’t “diverse” enough. Now talking about the mistakes made at the rally especially from secret service. Mention the secret service director has spoken and said that building was assigned to local police who were apparently inside of it. Host talking about how tragic the incident was and mentioning the victim that died. My main takeaway is I can’t believe people still watch cable TV. Way too many commercials. But overall, small sample size but the people (including the Republicans being interviewed) on CNN/MSNBC seem much more calm than Fox News, where most of the people including those being interviewed seem angry. I get it, someone (possibly one of their own) tried to kill their candidate, but don’t say the media should stop the attacks if you’re not actually going to.
-
Didn’t you just say the sides should stop attacking each other?
-
I don’t usually watch the news at all. Traveling for work so figured I’d see what Fox News had to say about the assassination attempt. 90% of it is people saying how everyone on the left and especially Biden (“he defended his bullseye comment by saying ‘I didn’t say crosshairs!) are horrible awful people. The dude that just finished literally said, and I quote “Trump saved the justice system by defeating these bastards.” Not much talk about the actual shooter.
-
Was he not in first class?
-
Are you talking to me? I literally just said the yard sign most likely wasn’t his, liar. But “when he graduated high school” wasn’t very long ago. If he really was a Republican (still unconfirmed), then I think it’s fair to say “rhetoric” isn’t really to blame. If he was that susceptible to the “rhetoric from the media!!” then he wouldn’t still be a Republican.
