    Buying a House vs Renting

I didn’t say he should want to own a condo (or a home). Your reading ability doing ok? I simply said he shouldn’t compare the rent on a 2-bedroom house to the taxes on a 4-bedroom home. He has used that argument in past threads on the topic as well and it’s just as stupid now as it was then.
  2. I only recognize about 7 of these people. 3 of them are neither trans or non-binary (Anderson Aldrich, Jared Ravizza, and Genesse Moreno). Also the Asian thing on the bottom row technically hadn’t committed a violent crime (yet).

I’m not saying you should want to own a home. I’m saying you shouldn’t compare the cost of renting a 2 bedroom apartment to the taxes on a 4+ bedroom home.

My problem is you’re comparing apples and oranges. What would it cost to buy a condo comparable to your apartment?

So you live in a 1 bedroom then?

    Buying a House vs Renting

How big is your apartment, and how big is a house that has higher property taxes than your rent?

Moving often and not wanting to take care of a house are good reasons to rent. But stop comparing the rent on your 2 bedroom apartment to the taxes on a 4+ bedroom house.

Higher than what? It will generally be priced in line with similar units. But overall, new construction can actually lower prices by increasing supply. There’s an “affordable” housing crisis in larger metro areas. There is a lot of new construction but it’s focused on the higher end, which isn’t really impacted by what’s happening on the lower end. Although some would actually argue there’s not an affordable housing crisis because there is plenty of inventory available in places with limited jobs.

I assume their argument is that higher demand for low-rent housing is driving up rents at all levels, but it doesn’t work like that.
  10. Adoption or foster care most likely. Not a perfect scenario but probably better than a parent that can’t be bothered to even send their kid to school which is basically free child care

Considering they’re likely also providing low cost labor to build more housing, maybe (SUPPLY and demand, right?). And many of them aren’t even “in the market” anyway. More people that want to live in a $700 a month 2 bedroom apartment isn’t going to make @mmmmm...beer’s rent $3,500, stop
  12. Fining a poor person seems counterproductive, but I’d be okay with locking up parents who intentionally do not send their kids to school. Or maybe taking the kids away.

Why, will the third world scum be scooping up all the $3,500 a month rentals, dumbazz?
  14. ^the above of course goes back to the comment about sh1tty parents. It’s not a kid’s fault if they have sh1tty parents, which you seem to acknowledge but simultaneously minimize by saying “it’s not society’s responsibility”
  15. I’ll keep this in mind for the future
  16. I said “other than locking criminals up for life”…
  17. Other than locking up criminals for life, how do you suggest addressing the problem?
  18. It does seem like she is trying to cover her eyes in these photos, not that most people would be looking there

Maybe @LaChup’s in-laws were like @edjr who thought the housing market was due for a “yooge pop” in 2019
  20. What a strange post. Strike: people need to stop whining about poor people being disadvantaged!! Also Strike: Poor kids just need to have better parents Dumbazz, having sh1tty parents IS the disadvantage.
  21. Earlier, you said “it’s not being talked about” and it’s being “suppressed.” Now, it’s just not being talked about as much “relative to all the other things being talked about in the news.” Lol. I guess this is as close as you’ll get to admitting you were wrong. And yes, as @IGotWorms has been saying, the cause of the increase was likely Covid. And yes @Strike, I did say at the time that schools should have been opened by fall 2021. I wasn’t against them being closed the first year due to the risk to teachers and family members, but once the vaccine was available that risk became far lower.
  22. That took about 30 seconds, do you want some more? How about some news stories (all different than the last post) Those were all national. Local stories out there as well
  23. The MSM has been talking about this a lot actually, so you’re wrong (again).
