I’m on like 2/3 full flights all the time. The problem with your theory is the cheap flights where people do this are usually ending at small cities that not a lot of people go to, hence the lower price, so good chance those flights won’t be full if people skip the leg. Don’t get me wrong airlines are horrible, but this practice doesn’t help them.
