Fashionable foreigners exposing Ohioans to new culinary experiences
TimHauck replied to Fireballer's topic in The Geek Club
Well for starters the majority of Haitians in Springfield are in the country legally -
Well no, I don’t think standing in a public area or asking a question would fit the legal definition of “opposed”
-
Yes please cite me the law that he broke.
-
Do you disagree that Scheffler was accused of a much more serious crime?
-
Uh, I’m not the one that brought up Scheffler. I’ll let the official review decide, but no I do not personally think Campbell was legally detained. Just to confirm, you think the cops would have been well within their rights to cuff Darlington as well, correct?
-
Scheffler was being accused of (and basically admitted to, albeit unknowingly) a much more serious crime. HTH
-
No, my point all along has been that I think handcuffing Campbell was the most egregious part of the whole ordeal and that is what the majority of my posts have been about. However, I think that is evidence the cop may be more in the wrong for the Hill situation. I don’t follow golf and didn’t really know who Scheffler was before that incident. I watched some of the coverage about it, and it seems both sides ultimately agreed it was a misunderstanding. I had not watched the Scheffler bodycam footage previously so am in the middle of watching it now, about 20 minutes into the below link. Yes, Scheffler was more calm than Hill (but equally as calm as Campbell), but the officer that was talking to him while he was in the car was more calm as well. Just curious, what do you think officer neck tattoo would have done to Tyreek Hill if he ripped the officer’s pants with his car? Interestingly, and relating back to Campbell, a bystander which I’m pretty sure is Jeff Darlington can be heard approaching the police/Scheffler at least twice, appearing to get much closer to Scheffler than Campbell got to Hill and yet was not handcuffed. @Fireballer probably thinks Darlington should have been handcuffed too. Also worth noting that when Darlington approaches, the police officer actually cites a law and not “it’s none of your business.” So thanks for helping show the differences between Scheffler and Hill’s situations.

Ohio is sending troopers and $2.5 million to a city that has seen an influx of Haitian migrants

If your point is you think the influx of Haitians in Springfield has added “serious negative consequences” then no, I’m not sure I agree as a whole. I’ve actually read a lot about this issue and have been posting in the other thread. As I said there, the main “negative consequence” for the prior residents is that the Haitians have caused a lot of car accidents. And the overall increase in residents (nothing to do with them being a different culture) has caused a need for more housing, even though prices have only increased at about the same rate as the national average. However, prior to the Haitians arriving, the population had been declining. Jobs were brought to the area that the locals couldn’t or didn’t want to fill, which is why the Haitians were brought in. Employers report the Haitians are reliable and hardworking. And even in all of the recent videos of people going there, I have not seen a single person claim the Haitians are committing violent crime against other residents. It’s always either about the car accidents, overflowing trash cans, blaming them for higher rents, or being mad that they’re getting government assistance. Or rumors of them eating cats and wild animals. -

Because the last time she said she was in favor of mandatory buybacks was 2019, and she focuses on banning assault weapons and red flag laws whenever she comments on it that I’ve seen. Yes I know you’ll say I’m quibbling over words but I still feel like she was not directly saying Trump said Project 2025 was his plan in the debate. However, I looked at her website and it does seem more direct there which is not good - https://kamalaharris.com/issues/ But I acknowledged she had some lies in there, which would include the bloodbath comment. Just want to make sure we’re all on the same page that Biden saying “put him in the bullseye” was taken out of context as well. Yes, I’d agree the moderator was biased, but not to the extent that some are saying. I do think Trump lied more. But Harris’s lesser number of lies in my opinion were more driven by the fact that she mostly spoke in generalities and often didn’t get very specific. -

What isn’t a thing? The MSM isn’t focusing on the dogs and cats, the right is. -
Correct, that is what @easilyscan did, weird how you didn’t call him out
-
Can’t remember, have you made similar comments to @Maximum Overkill, who posts about trannies in virtually every thread? I must say though, it seems the people eating pet cats hoax has distracted him from that a bit.

Congrats, this might be the most unrelated whataboutism I’ve ever seen

Here is what I said She said it’s his plan, but she didn’t say he said it was his STATED plan. -

Well if you google Project 2025, you’ll see him claim that’s not his plan -
Then you should have said this first and not “but what if he was a gang banger and not Tyreek Hill.” Because one of the cops knew it was him right away and then told the others. I believe it was brown sleeves who took his license so had his name but didn’t even know Hill was a player on the Dolphins. Which IMO shows poor preparation unless they don’t normally work that area. Because you literally have the stadium in view, on the day of a home game, so you gotta figure there’s a good chance the players will be driving by on their way to the game (and if they knew that, they would know there’s a slim chance he was fleeing the scene of a different crime or something). Sure, it’s possible Tyreek Hill could shoot them, especially considering his criminal history. But his prior crime(s) have been committed in the private, if they knew it was Hill, they would know it was very unlikely he would shoot them in broad daylight on a highly trafficked road.
-
Lol. Would a “reasonable officer” cite a law that doesn’t exist, as was done here?
-
It’s relevant to the fact that that cop isn’t very good at his job, considering he cited a law that wasn’t effective yet, and did so incorrectly. Are you trying to say Campbell was impeding? What was he handcuffed for if not standing? Asking what happened?
-
To me, the Campbell stuff shows it’s a pattern for that particular cop, considering with the multiple cops there it was the same guy that 1) pulled Hill out of the car and shoved him to the ground, 2) forcefully put Hill on the curb, and 3) handcuffed Campbell. If it was just Hill then maybe you could write it off as Hill not cooperating fully (putting aside the fact that he was literally on his way out of the car when he was grabbed and put on the ground, and wasn’t given much time to sit down after he was already in handcuffs), but handcuffing Campbell despite him doing nothing wrong leads me to believe that more of the blame likely lies on the officer. As such, I have a feeling the Campbell video could be damaging if Hill brings a lawsuit.
-
So cops can just handcuff anyone they feel like because there’s a chance the person they’re dealing with might be dangerous? My point in asking your opinion about Campbell is that I obviously feel he didn’t deserve to be handcuffed in the scenario we’re actually discussing. As do most normal people that actually have an opinion (what a copout to say you have no opinion btw, lol). So based on the video, his actions would support what everyone says about him being a great guy and how he says he was raised to behave around police.
-
Hard to compare him to Bill Cosby and Alex Murdaugh then
-
Do you think Campbell deserved to get handcuffed in this instance?
-
Sure, but all accounts of him from others are that he’s an all around great dude. Do you think he deserved to get handcuffed in this instance?
-
I don’t know how many interactions he has had with cops, but in a recent interview he stated that he was taught as a kid to always comply with police officers and “let them know that you’re not a threat” (6:40 in the below link) Do you think he deserved to get handcuffed in this instance?
-
Hill had already provided his license, and the one cop knew it was him as he told the other officers (but I guess brown sleeves didn’t hear), which was before any of the physicality took place.
