Lawsuit says police stood by for 13 minutes as her 30-year-old son drowned in the Tennessee River
TimHauck replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
If I’m the cop, unless I had just witnessed the guy kill someone, I would rather he be alive than deal with the paperwork of someone dying on my watch. I probably wouldn’t jump in, but I’d like to think I would have tried to hand him something to grab onto and wouldn’t have prevented others from trying to help. Trying to help someone that’s drowning isn’t “jumping into an active investigation.” The cops would be free to continue their investigation once he was pulled out. @Engorgeous George seems to agree with the opinion that they probably shouldn’t have prevented others from trying to help. And since at least one of the civilians was apparently from a nearby business, they may have been more familiar with the water in the area and thus more comfortable with attempting to help. George are you a lawyer? -
You’re almost there. Omicron does effect different populations differently. Generally speaking, it was mild for those with immunity, either from the vaccine or previous infection. But in 2022, Hong Kong was one of the only countries where the elderly, who were most at risk from all Covid strains, still had a significant number of people who were both unvaccinated and not previously infected. Showing work:

Dang, you called it. From this Fox News article:

I’m not discarding their data, I’m just saying it needs to be age-specific in order to show a benefit for younger people, which hasn’t been done to my knowledge for boosters. My views tend to follow data which has been replicated across multiple studies.

Also @jerryskids, my opinion was I don’t fault the cops for not jumping in, but they should have allowed others to. AKA, the centrist opinion. -

Yeah, lend a helping hand, as in reach out without actually jumping in… -

Does @dogcows claim to be a centrist? I honestly don’t know. The only other people I notice claiming to be centrists are @Hawkeye21 (he is) and @RaiderHaters Revenge (he isn’t). I’ll let dogcows answer if he thinks the cops should have jumped in, but as I alluded to in my follow up, based on his other posts, his concern seemed to be more with saying the cops should have helped in general (and at least not prevented other people from helping), not necessarily saying the cops should have jumped in. -

So one guy posting a link means “all of this about the cops are supposed to jump in and save him,” got it -

Also I’m pretty sure the point of the article was more to point out that a typical human response when they see someone drowning is to generally try to save them, and not necessarily focused on the act of physically jumping in the water. -

He said “that’s what a real man does,” he didn’t say the police “should have” done that. Edit: and like most of the other responses, he seemed most concerned with the prevention of other people trying to save the guy. But go ahead and focus on one random link. -
Ages 70+ in Hong Kong were less than 60% vaxx’ed when Omicron hit. You must not know the definition of “excess.” Even if it’s mostly old people, old people are usually the ones that die, so if there is excess then that means more old people are dying than there should be. And why are you bringing up NYC?
-
Yup that was a big mistake which I’ve talked about multiple times. I don’t think they were trying to kill people obviously, although there was likely concern about hospitals getting overwhelmed which didn’t really happen due to visits for other reasons going down. Also likely didn’t realize how easily it could be spread.

No one said this. C’mon jerry, be better. -
Just went to Legoland FL last week and agree it was really cool. Definitely recommend the hotel too (we stayed in the Pirate one).

IANAL but I don’t see how the police could have liability for someone else trying to save the first guy. Even still, I guess I could see them trying to stop other people from jumping in, but why allegedly not even allow other people to use a tow strap? This. -
You sure about that? “Patrick Webb” claims that a NEW STUDY (from April 2022) confirms that vaccine shedding is real.
-
The difference with my metal helmet comment was that I realized it was dumb and admitted it. Meanwhile you doubled down and tried to claim “could care less” was actually correct.
-
It hit the elderly much harder than the flu. Hence the huge spike in TOTAL deaths. Get that through your thick skull.
-
No it was irony. Kinda like someone who didn’t know the proper phrase was “couldn’t care less” trying to lecture people about the English language. Thanks for your concern though.
-
Actually we do know there was a spike in deaths, due to Covid, something that doesn’t happen like that from flu, and does not correlate at all with vaccine doses. Their overall vaccination rate was good, but their elderly vaccination rate was not. They were one of the only countries where vax rates were actually higher among the younger population. That (in addition to lockdowns which also kept natural infections low) is why they were one of the only countries to get hit extremely hard by Omicron:

So it’s OK to doxx liberals, but not conservatives, got it.

Doesn’t “Libs of Tik Tok” regularly post what schools the people it tweets about work at? And most of the time their actions don’t involve actual pedophelia like this guy.

No, it’s you buddy
