Ed posting misleading articles that have already been posted elsewhere. I remember last year when Ed posted about them offering discounts that they had offered for years and thinking they were unusual, lol.

The lady willingly says she’s there on behalf of Rise and Resist. I doubt she’d admit that then lie about whether or not she was paid. But sure, it’s theoretically possible she was paid. But as has been stated, there is no evidence provided that she was. She clearly enjoys what she does, it doesn’t look like she needs compensation to do it. And I didn’t say there was anything wrong with being paid to organize protests, I was just pointing out that it’s common from both sides. The clear implication from these claims of “tHe DeMs ArE pAyInG pEoPlE tO pRoTeSt!!” is to imply that the crowds are basically filled with people being paid to be there, and that the crowds would be much smaller if they weren’t paying people to be there. There is nothing even close to suggesting that is the case, all that’s been shown is there were some people helping to organize the protest, with the only one shown in the video specifically denying being paid.

Well for one she specifically says in the video that she is not being paid. Here is the full video where that clip is from: At another point she can be seen directing the traffic of people where to go. So if she is being paid, which again she specifically denies, it’s not “to protest.” It’s to help with ORGANIZING the protest. Some legal analysis: TL/DR: what he did probably wasn’t illegal at the time, but it could have become illegal if he later acted on any alleged promises. Even outside of bribery allegations, if he did actually take the money, he needs to declare it on his tax returns or else it’s tax evasion.

I don’t think it’s all bad. But I think it’s a pretty safe bet it will take more jobs than it creates. Also I meant for this thread to be more about the data centers specifically. The impact on electricity prices is certainly notable. As well as the concern that AI is basically driving the economy, if it turns out to be a bubble we’re in trouble (although clearly I presume you don’t think it’s a bubble).
