Now you’re saying crime in the state of Ohio is really down? I did not mean to suggest that Springfield was the only city that made the change, simply that it might not have been a nationwide change. Where can one find the data on simple assault?

This link says the anticipated change is based on how reporting is different when multiple crimes are involved. The quote from the police captain is referring to the definition of aggravated assault specifically, and the way he says “the city” changed systems reads to me like he is referring to a local change and not necessarily a national one.

This is a lie. It went from 177 to 477 in 2021 (+179%) and to 507 in 2022 (+6%). So nearly the entire increase came in 2021. If not from the reporting change (which seems to be the culprit), this would suggest many of the people committing these crimes likely arrived before 2021. Let me know when you’d like to apologize.

Probably worth noting that it seems like many of the immigrants are working, as that is why they are there to begin with - from what I can tell businesses in the area brought them there to work in the various manufacturing plants in the area which is pretty centrally located, so the complaint of “they’re just here collecting tax money and not contributing anything” can not be used in this scenario.
