To be fair, the OP is from 2022. But I had never heard of this Anthony Johnson fellow until seeing someone mention him on x/twitter as a right wing talking point. So I was curious if the GC had used this talking point as well, and of course I was not surprised that peefoam had.

I wouldn’t say tipping more than average shows “higher character.” But tipping 0% when it is customary and you know the employees depend on it, such as at a restaurant, absolutely shows “lower character” unless the service was horrendous. Assuming this story is true of course, I was also surprised by the “her and her posse racked up a bill of $100!” line, which in LA is probably like 5 drinks. If you don’t agree with tipping at restaurants, that’s fine, then don’t go to them. But going and knowing going in that you will be tipping nothing is not cool.
