So the DHS statement of “He physically got in between agents and the subject they were attempting to arrest and refused to comply with numerous verbal commands“ could be careful wording. “Physically got in between agents” might just mean where he was standing, and “refusing to comply with numerous commands” might be orders not to record, which I’m pretty sure (but IANAL) are unlawful.

What a strange comment. I don’t believe there is an illegal immigrant’s wife quoted in this story. Maybe you were referring to Abrego Garcia, but I specifically said the domestic violence allegation (which she now denies) was probably the most credible complaint against him.

I would say the fear isn’t so much deporting a marginally beneficial non citizen, it is deporting an actual citizen. Which what they’re doing with Abrego Garcia is kinda setting the precedent to be able to do

Seems like it would make it easier for someone to impersonate an officer. Many of the posts here about the vax were straight up lies, like blaming it for deaths even when the cause was specifically found to be something else. And speaking of social media, I’m sure there were plenty of middle-aged, overweight righty sheep that died because they did not get vaccinated, possibly being influenced to make that decision based on “social media campaigns.” I disagreed with the mandates but I know the data showed it was overall beneficial for adults, so in terms of employers, as I said, no I didn’t care enough to protest them. The dumbest mandates were at colleges, but kids also aren’t forced to go to a specific college.

He was talking about employer vax mandates primarily. I did not agree with them, but I didn’t care enough to protest them, and there is actually some data suggesting they were likely the most effective measure taken to prevent deaths.

The tax stuff doesn’t seem too bad from what I can tell. I’m not crazy about the $150 billion increase in defense funding, which completely wipes out DOGE’s alleged and likely already inflated “savings.” I thought the defense budget was supposed to be an area we could have cut from.

Slippery slopes. For example, Trump only half-joking about sending the “homegrowns next” to El Salvador. And there have been more reports of US Citizens being detained as well (here’s one posted yesterday : https://x.com/LongTimeHistory/status/1925671656304869665 ), fortunately they have been getting released faster but it’s not out of the question that that may change. ICE going around wearing masks, it’s not really a great look IMO.
