What a strange comment. I don’t believe there is an illegal immigrant’s wife quoted in this story. Maybe you were referring to Abrego Garcia, but I specifically said the domestic violence allegation (which she now denies) was probably the most credible complaint against him.

Many of the posts here about the vax were straight up lies, like blaming it for deaths even when the cause was specifically found to be something else. And speaking of social media, I’m sure there were plenty of middle-aged, overweight righty sheep that died because they did not get vaccinated, possibly being influenced to make that decision based on “social media campaigns.” I disagreed with the mandates but I know the data showed it was overall beneficial for adults, so in terms of employers, as I said, no I didn’t care enough to protest them. The dumbest mandates were at colleges, but kids also aren’t forced to go to a specific college.

He was talking about employer vax mandates primarily. I did not agree with them, but I didn’t care enough to protest them, and there is actually some data suggesting they were likely the most effective measure taken to prevent deaths.

The tax stuff doesn’t seem too bad from what I can tell. I’m not crazy about the $150 billion increase in defense funding, which completely wipes out DOGE’s alleged and likely already inflated “savings.” I thought the defense budget was supposed to be an area we could have cut from.

ICE going around wearing masks, it’s not really a great look IMO.

I said some people, not all. The ironic thing with this guy being MAGA is he was probably cheering when the Venezuelans were being rounded up, but didn’t know he’d be next. It’s also interesting to me because many on the left might not come to this guy’s defense because of his beliefs. But he certainly appears to be a better example to use than Abrego Garcia.

I think the fact that this guy was (is?) MAGA is interesting, because I’m sure some Trump voters thought the main point of getting rid of the illegals was to get rid of the ones committing crimes other than being here illegally. I could see some independent voters being concerned about a guy that came here legally, was told he was on track to becoming a citizen, and had never been accused of any crime, being detained for a month over some paperwork. Slippery slopes and all that.
