  1. Depends how successful the business was IMO. If the gang knew it was very successful and thus allowed the family to no longer need to work and live off the past money they made from the business, then yes it would make sense to me if they were still making threats to get more money even after the business closed.
  2. He may not have lied. He said the family was still being threatened even after closing the business and moving.
  3. According to him, the family was still being threatened even after the business closed, and even after some of them had moved to a different country. But also:
  4. Huh? Sure, it’s possible he was making up that he had anything to fear by that point. Because he wanted to stay in the US with his pregnant wife. Not because he was afraid for a different reason. C’mon man…
  5. Thanks for calling out his age. So he was only 16 when he left El Salvador. Which would seem to make it not that likely (but yes, theoretically possible) that he was already in a “rival gang” by then.
  6. So are you giving up on the claim that being afraid of a “rival gang” was why he left El Salvador in the first place?
  7. There is “evidence” he was in a gang in the US, not in El Salvador.
  8. Now you’re moving the goalposts to what would happen now. If the gang really doesn’t exist anymore, then yes it’s correct that he shouldn’t be in danger there anymore. But my recent pushback was the implication that the reason he was afraid of the gang in the first place was because he was “in a rival gang.” There has been no evidence presented that that is the case, and there has been evidence presented that he was afraid of the gang because of threats they made to his family’s business.
  9. I believe it’s been posted but here is the ruling, where the judge found Garcia to be credible and that his story was consistent and was supported by affidavits from his family. Yes I know this is just one judge’s opinion, similar to the one (read: not two) that thought he was in MS-13: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mdd.578815/gov.uscourts.mdd.578815.1.1_3.pdf According to the story, yes it was just doing bizness, that’s what extortion is Jerry. And according to the story, it was at the urging of his parents that he flee the country. Maybe this gang preferred to threaten “military-aged men” and not females or older folks? Speaking of, according to the story, his brother (who was also being threatened) left for America before Kilmar, so you can stop pretending he’s some coward that just decided on his own to ditch his parents. As far as what happened next, the family claimed despite moving twice, they were still being threatened. It seems his parents and sisters eventually moved to Guatemala, where they say they were still being threatened as of the time of the hearing.
  10. It wasn’t intended to be a gotcha, I legit wanted you to clarify your point because you wrote two sentences with complete opposite meanings. I bumped it because you were acting all holier than though in a different thread, so wanted to show that you were being a doosh here despite me asking nicely for your to clarify your typo.
  11. The egg on the face of the conservative outrage mob was the people claiming that the dwarves were “replaced” by the “7 diverse people,” when really they were in the movie all along in a different capacity, and the photo that went viral even cropped out the 8th person (a straight white male). Although somehow @EternalShinyAndChrome still believes that those people were supposed to replace the dwarves lol
  12. Bump for @jerryskids. Two questions really: 1. Who told you Garcia was “afraid of a rival gang”? 2. Do you know businesses can be extorted by gangs without being a member of a different gang?
  13. Source: trust me bro. There weren’t even 7 people in the photo, lololol. C’mon, you can admit you were wrong.
  14. Who told you it was a rival gang? “Occam’s Razor”? You do realize that it is a thing for gangs to extort businesses right? (I believe @avoiding injuries seemed shocked by that possibility as well). You can argue if he was “abandoning his family” if you want, but we know Garcia’s brother fled to the US before Kilmar for the same reason and became a legal resident, so it’s not like Kilmar was just making it up so he wouldn’t be deported. The family also moved twice to try to avoid the gang, which I’m sure could be easily verified.
  15. I’ll jot this under you refusing to admit you were wrong. Again.
  16. Actually I forgot one additional point where you were wrong. Disney responded immediately to Dinklage’s comments with this: "We are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community," it said in a statement. Key words: HAVE BEEN. Nothing in there suggests they changed anything because of Dinklage’s comments. @Strike wrong again.
  17. So are you trying to say you think their plan was actual little people, which changed to the “7 magical creatures,” which then changed to animated dwarves? Btw, your comprehension of Dinklage’s comments are completely wrong, per your usual. He was complaining that the movie was ABOUT DWARVES, not that little people were used to depict them. So they didn’t even really give in to his complaints.
  18. Ok, so you agree that @EternalShinyAndChrome and much of right wing social media was wrong, and that the “7 magical creatures” were never intended to replace the dwarves?

It’s an old picture that was apparently already on the interwebs https://x.com/jfgariepy/status/1918397311295865195?s=46
  20. Lol you’re just making stuff up now. If you don’t think it’s more likely for a cop that’s dirty in one regard to also be dirty in another regard, then I can’t help you. I’ve never said he should have gotten bond, I’m just saying the ruling was about whether or not he should get bond, not if he was in MS-13. The judge believing he was (but not “ruling” it) was one of multiple factors in ruling that he did not get bond. And I’ve agreed that he should have been deported, just not to El Salvador. But what I feel the strongest about is that even though he should have been deported, he shouldn’t be imprisoned. That’s where the lack of evidence of his alleged crimes comes in. Good job repeating the lie about a “rival gang” though. It wasn’t a rival gang, it was a gang that was threatening his family’s business. I thought you were better than that, guess not.

Yes, the “wokies” would have liked that, but the people donating to her wouldn’t have. That would have been the gotcha if it were true. But it’s not, she’s just a racist POS.

So Babbit Was Murdered After All...

Yup. And neither would anyone here if the breaker-inner was black.
  23. Bump for @Strike. Also to make it known that I asked nicely for him to clarify his position because he made 2 completely opposite statements, and he was a total doosh about it.
  24. The ruling was not “whether or not he was in MS-13.” The ruling was whether or not to deny him bond.

So Babbit Was Murdered After All...

Yes. Especially if the business owner gave several verbal warnings with the gun visible.
