I don’t think he was a grifter. He believed what he was saying. He also put a lot of work into what he did by traveling around the country, unlike some of the true grifters that don’t do much more than posting on x, sometimes while living in other countries. But while he was civil in his discussion, he didn’t try to “reach across the aisle,” he was trying to get people to join his side, and when he was posting on x or talking with other conservatives, he was often divisive. Of course he didn’t deserve to be killed for it, but I bet there were a lot of non-liberals that didn’t like him (myself included).

His statement was not false. MAGA was desperately trying to paint the killer as not one of their own. It’s looking like they are correct, but they were doing it before we even knew who the shooter was. (And don’t do the “yeah because he shot Charlie Kirk!” thing, because conservatives were also quick to blame the MN lawmaker murder on libs on the most scant, and sometimes false, evidence. And some are even still doing it despite all the evidence to the contrary).

Didn’t you literally ask for examples of things that he said? And then yelled at people for answering you? It was horrible that he died, and it’s especially sad since he never advocated for violence, but some people are acting like he was MLK or something, he wasn’t. Here’s a good example of a comment he made with an obvious implication (invoking 9/11 when talking about Mamdani), but I’m sure you’ll say “there’s nothing wrong with that, he was just stating 2 facts!!!” And again I’m acknowledging that Kimmel “implied” the shooter was MAGA, but he didn’t say it. And even if he did, I’d argue that’s not worth being cancelled over. The cancellations should have been reserved for the people celebrating Kirk’s death which Kimmel clearly didn’t do.

A source at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! countered to THR that Kimmel's planned on-air address was not "making it worse," but that he simply "wasn't kowtowing" to the outrage. Kimmel was "defending what he said (as) being grossly mischaracterized by a certain group of people," the show source said. THR reported on Wednesday that Kimmel did not plan to apologize for his comments, but did plan to address the situation on-air.
