Not to fawking brag, but I will. Pistol Pete lived two blocks away from where I grew up. As kids, we’d ride our bikes around the neighborhood and he was always shouting hoops in his front yard double driveway practicing by himself mostly. My cool Pops asked if I knew he is and said “That’s Pete Maravich. He plays for the Jazz.” So one day my friends and I are riding our bikes and there he was. I rode up and said. Me: Are you Pistol Pete? Pistol: I am. Do you and your friends want to play horse? Next thing I know, we played horse for a few hours till it got dark. He is not going to let us win. It was a blast and what I learned that day has always been a great experience. I mastered the hook shot learning from him. Good times. A great ambassador to the game.
