I was already leaning Arizona, but that pushed me over the top. Dallas's wins over Giants and Jets inflated everyone's Cowboy optimism - including their own. Dak was decent in those games, but he didn't have to do much and IMO his career is trending down. Arizona might pressure him (like they did to Was: 6 sacks, and NYG: 3 sacks) and force punts/turnovers. Arizona looked surprisingly good for the first half against Giants. Even though they melted down in the 4th, that might spark some confidence. At home with us-vs-world mentality, in what should be a low scoring game... sounds like a recipe for an upset. The key is pressuring Dak.

I'm calling my shot right now. Various reasons lead me to this conclusion - Arizona upsets Dallas week 3. Take it to the bank. Cash it and stash it.

Tank didn't ingratiate himself to coaches with that week 1 (head in the clouds) fumble. And then last week, a backwards pass that he missed... resulting in another turnover. Gonna take a while for him to dig out of that dog house. Sucks because I own him. Not sure what to think of Harris now. Preseason, I thought he'd be Bills goal line stud along with rotational work. But so far it's been a mix of him and 33 y.o. Murray.

Crazy how thin the Cowboys are at Rb... if anything happens to Pollard it's undrafted Rico Dowdle entering his 4th year, or 6th rd pick Deuce Vaughn out of Kansas State who at 5'6" 176 lbs could get his ass kicked by a leprechaun. Clearly, Dowdle at 6'0" 215 lbs would be the go-to guy. Dowdle has had injury issues... missed most of senior year at SC, due to groin and knee injuries. Signs as an undrafted free agent with Dallas and plays special teams. In 2021, gets a hip injury in preseason and misses entire season. In 2022, played 5 games on special teams, before an ankle injury ended his season. I will say Pollard has never been a workhorse and some guys aren't cut out for it. Obviously Dallas thinks he is, but if he can't take the pounding, Dowdle should get the work. A decent lotto ticket especially since Dallas is a run-first/defense type of team, but unstartable until Pollard misses time.

Eric Gray ... Giants 5th rd pick out of Oklahoma. Most assumed Gray would be Saquon's backup, but for some reason the coaches are going with washed up Matt Brieda. If he stinks it up, which he probably will... Gray could sneak up for value, at least until Saquon returns. Zach Evans ... Rams 6th rd pick out of Ole Miss, who fell 3 rounds later in draft than expected. Currently listed as #3 banana, but if anything happens to Kyren Williams, I'd bet Evans eclipses undrafted Ronnie Rivers as the next up. Some thought Evans would be #2 behind Akers, but obviously Williams impressed the coaches. Sean Tucker ... pass catcher out of Syracuse who graded 5th rd pick, but went undrafted after missing combine (injured). Was the first undrafted player to sign - first day after draft. Back-up to Rashaad White. I'm tempted to dump Chandler for Gray. Apparently Chandler hasn't done anything in practice to prove his worth. He's supposedly the best pass catcher on the team, but something is lacking - either rushing or pass protection skills. Heck Maddison is terrible at pass protection so it's surprising they've stuck with him. Cousins gets hit more than a pinata.

I considered Wilson off free agency this week (burrow questionable), but after learning how frustrated Peyton is with Wilson, I'm worried if he turns the ball over and Denver is losing going into half-time against Miami... Peyton might bench him. Decided to look elsewhere.

I agree with Kilroy... Kupp might not play this season. If I traded for Kupp it'd have to be ridiculously cheap given the possibility he never plays. So cheap, I doubt the Kupp owner would consider it. Your Wrs are fine. When Taylor comes back, your roster looks solid.

Less than ideal for my Ty Chandler lotto pick. The trade speaks to how the Vikings feel about Mattison... and I guess Chandler to a lesser degree. I didn't think they'd trade Akers, because they'd want a 3rd/4th rd pick or a decent player in return. But apparently they would've accepted a sack of potatoes to get Akers out of town.

That's my thought. Swift had big stats last week, but I'm not sure he "proved himself" so much as the o-line proved they can make holes. Swift certainly didn't prove himself to the Lions who knew him well and still decided to trade him for a 4th rounder and use their 12th overall pick on a different Rb. You'd think the Eagles would ride the hot hand, but ... it's the Eagles. And with Hurts stealing goal line work, along with Gainwell and Scott, my concern with Swift is Tds. But I have no skin in the game, as I don't have any of the Eagles backfield.

The NFL wants people to believe it is not rigged
GobbleDog replied to kilroy69's topic in FFToday Board
The most rigged sport in the world.... low level tennis. Those guys don't make squat, but they have lots of expenses including coaches, travel, equipment, etc. They don't even have to bet against themselves - just bet to lose the first set, or lose first break point, or lose first ace, etc. This is known to be true because several who've been caught talked about how prevalent it is. The idea of NFL rigging is laughable. -
The NFL wants people to believe it is not rigged

"Either I stink at sports betting, or the NFL is rigged. Since it can't possibly be me - it must be rigged!" It was an incredible conspiracy. Fixing the most bet sport in America for 5+ decades, and getting everyone in on it to keep quiet. It was a flawless scam, until Kilroy69 came along and exposed everything. If only the Rams hadn't kicked that field goal.?. Well, it's over now as the entire world will see the NFL is just a racket for billionaires to bet peanuts on rigged games. -
Ford started college career at Alabama, but stuck behind a loaded depth (no surprise at Bama), so he transfers to Cincinnati where he went on to tie program Td rushing record (ranked 3rd nationally), named all AAC first team, and MVP of the AAC conference game. Browns drafted him 5th rd in '22 where he was again buried on depth chart behind Hunt serving mostly special teams (which coaches give to guys with good hands). Browns had enough confidence to let Hunt walk and named him as Chubb's new backup. 5'10" 210 lbs... can do it all. Catch, powerback, and run like the wind. I was happy to add him as my Chubby handcuff... and unfortunately, now I'm glad I did.

If Akers was on my team I'd hold for a couple weeks. Hard to ignore his monster games at the end of the year, even after a similar benching. Starting Rbs are tough to come by. The situation stinks - clogging a roster spot, but scared to drop him. I feel your pain, as we've all been there with various players over the years.

Once they switched to a 17-game season I was worried that trivia question would die a quick death... but thanks to Justin Fields it might live a few more years.

2023 - Year of the Fish -
I'll never draft a Rb after an achilles given their abysmal history. It looked like Akers had recovered a lot based on his final 5-6 games last year, and perhaps would become the first Rb to officially break the Achilles Curse. Now, not so much. Someday a Rb will finally break the curse and whoever drafts him will reap the benefits. But it won't be me. There's gonna be lots of busts along the way, who also won't be on my teams.
-
One of my favorite sports trivia questions.... only one NFL team has never had a Qb throw 4,000+ yds in a single season.?. Daaaaaa Bears, da Bears, da Bears, da Bears...
-
Agreed. What would any team possibly offer to trade for Achilles Akers? McVay was probably frustrated with Akers 1.3 ypc in week 1. Then there's this "Akers was inactive for the game following what Rapoport characterized as a difficult week of practice." So it's either punishment or rest. Trade block just seems ridiculous.

The Bears have the worst coaching I've ever seen.
GobbleDog replied to seafoam1's topic in FFToday Board
Dating back to last season... Bears have now lost 12 straight games. But don't fear... Bears @ Chiefs next week. Ouch. -
Nobody understands Week 1. It's not like Gainwell was blowing up at 3.8 ypc. Maybe something at practice coaches didn't like in Swift.?. Who knows, but they had to play Swift this week and he looked great, so makes sense they ride the hot hand. As for Penny... he's completely out of the picture - doing return work now. Nobody would be shocked if the Eagles did split Gainwell and Swift 50/50, because the Eagles backfield has always been weird. But my hunch is Swift earned the coaches trust this week and probably gets closer to 70-75% of carries. We shall see...
-
Not a bit. Brown finishes top 10 Wr and Hurts top 5 Qb. What makes ya think otherwise? Slow start? Meh...
-
Ya only lost Dobbins. The others will be back. I'm also hurting after drafting Wilson with an early 2nd rounder. But nobody makes it through a season without some problems.
-
75% Swift / 25% Gainwell So.... 15-20 carries and 3 rec. Td's will be the fluky/unpredictable stat... due to Hurts tush-push and Gainwell goal line work.
