The Receiving Room in New York (Giants)

Not missing a thing. You fully understand the situation. I'm not an early/mid Te guy, but Waller in the 4th-5th rd will return value for someone. IMO the only Giants Wr worth drafting is Hodgins... extremely late in the draft.
  2. This should be in the Bold Predictions thread. Top 5 for Pickett definitely qualifies.

Josh Jacobs Ends Holdout, One-Year Deal

I think San Fran took Jimmy G to conference finals rather than the other way around. The short-pass game manager benefited from great offensive talent, and stout defense. But as far as Jacobs is concerned, the short passes will actually help. Carr has a better deep pass... the only good thing I can say after a career of mediocrity.

Josh Jacobs Ends Holdout, One-Year Deal

They were 6-11 last year, and Jacobs was still great by just getting run into the dirt. 1 year deal? They're gonna do it again. Might not get another 12 Tds, but with Jimmy G he'll still get plenty of dump offs. Seems like a reasonable pick for 2nd or 3rd round.

    Ekeler vs Bijan

Experts I respect consider Bijan a "generational talent", but nobody knows if he'll get the required carries, receptions and Tds to justify a top 3 Rb pick. Falcons coach has typically used a rotation, but even if Bijan gets most work early in the season - will coach continue overworking his prized new Rb if/when the Falcons fall from playoff contention? He's recently talked about 'sticking with the hot hand' with respect to Allgeier's playing time, sorta implying Bijan might not get the workload everyone expects this year. So I prefer Ekeler. Chargers did replace their old OC who was a dink/dunk specialist resulting in Ek's 107 receptions. He's always been a great receiver, but I'd expect fewer receptions. He's also 28 with lots of millage, though he hasn't missed a game in two years. Then there's McCaff who burned everyone twice already as the top pick. Seems all the early Rbs have some warts this year.

    2023 Bold Predictions

It's only preseason, but I have to admit Pickett looks like a completely different person. Week 1) 6 for 7, 70 yds, 1 Td Week 2) 3 for 4, 43 yds, 1 Td Week 3) 4 for 4, 86 yds A perfect passer rating of 158.3. Amazing given how unbelievably bad he was last year. If he does anything close to that in the regular season, I'll start seasoning the crow for dinner.

    Trey Lance traded to Dallas...

The Niners traded 1st round draft picks in '21, '22, and '23 and a 3rd round pick in '22, to get Lance. Resulting in absolutely nothing and finally ditched him for a messily 4th. Wow, just imagine what could've been. The Niners are good. They'd be world beaters without that monumental mistake.

    July Mock (PPR) Strategy analysis

1st) Robb (Bijan, Brown, Hurts, Ridley). Swap Bijan for Chubb and I'd really love it. 2nd) Remote (Hill, Pollard, Higgins, Cooper). Would've prefer top Qb or best available Rb in the 4th. 3rd) Landry (Kupp, Stephenson, Olave, Sanders). A very risky team, but potential for greatness. Can we pick worst team? Nobody's offended I hope. 12th) Hawkeye (CMC, Hall, Smith, London). Oof. McCaff might stay healthy. So could Hall, but still time sharing. Smith ain't repeating last year at 170 lbs and so many mouths at Eagles. London - not terrible, not special - Mr. meh.

Added value of a stack? Worth it or not?

I've read there's a small correlation to winning teams that stacked. Theory being if a drafter nailed the Qb pick, then the stack (Wr or Te) probably did well too. But stacking doesn't inherently make the team better, ya still have to nail the Qb pick.

    Trump INDICTED

I rarely post in these political threads, because it's never an intelligent debate. Just read these posts - sickening. I didn't vote for Biden and don't love all his policies, but he's my President. Maybe I was raised differently, but I respect the office. "My guy" or otherwise.

    Jahmyr Gibbs

Probably true and it makes sense an early Rb pick would get a big workload - obviously talented and low drafting teams likely needs help. I just don't put credence in the "he was drafted here, so he'll do this" thinking. Ever watch the popular Fantasy Footballers on Youtube? A month ago one of the "experts" explained why Dameon Pierce won't do well this year. Metrics? Situation? Injury? Nope, "historically 4th round Rbs haven't done well. Here's the history of 4th rd rb success..." I think Pierce will be very good this year based on metrics/situation and rec should increase given new coaches, but if he doesn't do well it sure as hell won't have anything to do with him being a 4th rd pick in '22. I'm weary of that type of "logic."

    2024 ff top 5 qb's

If Josh Allen ever becomes a typical pocket passer, I wonder if he'll beat defenses who don't respect the run threat? We think Rbs who turn 27 are old... a 27 yo white Qb.?. Just a thought experiment.

    Javonte Williams 2023

Javonte Williams ppr rank ESPN - 25 (early 6th) Yahoo - 27 FantasyPros - 27 FFToday - 33 (late 8th) I'm out regardless, but this makes the most sense.

    Top 5 WRs for 2023

I'm risk averse my first 2 picks, so don't mind a little Ridley risk if I'm picking near his adp (late 3rd-early 4th). I usually look for a couple Wrs in rd 7 and Kirk is one. Based on my mocks, he's available about 50% of time. It's weird, I've done lots of mocks on ESPN and Yahoo... the players drafted vary wildly in mid-late rounds. Probably because each site has different rankings, so some drafters just pick near the top of whichever rankings they see. Made me realize why live drafts have such crazy results... because everyone is looking at different cheat sheets. That's partly good because some gems fall later than they should, but also bad because ya can't predict nearly as accurately who goes where.

    Jahmyr Gibbs

Surprisingly true after Google search. You'd expect some Rbs among that "top 12 pick" qualifier in the last 20 years, to fall below expectations but no. Though it's a small sample. Makes sense teams with a top 12 pick would work-horse that Rb, especially 5 to 10+ years ago. Though teams have changed to more committee in recent years. With a larger sample size I'd give more credence to "other top Rb picks did this - so he'll do this" logic. But we only have 6, some from a different era. As I said I think Gibbs adp is reasonable and expect 15+- finish. I like Montgomery more than you, but sounds like we're nearly on the same page.
