Zero-rb (1-rb) drafters like me rely on mid-round Rbs like Akers. Good chance he's on my team so I'm rooting for him. But from what I hear, he isn't quite as entrenched as starter as I'd like.
-
LA Rams RB Zach Evans - TCU/Miss player was projected as a 3rd rounder, but slid to the 6th. Had fantastic college stats and is now Akers backup. Akers played well down the stretch last year, but he's on shakier ground than some think. If former achilles-injury Akers doesn't produce, Evans will get opportunities. Evans adp is RB 68, so nearly free.

Tampa Bay RB Sean Tucker - pass catcher out of Syracuse, graded as 5th rd NFL pick - some thought higher had he played for a better school. Ultimately undrafted after missing combine due to injury. After the draft, Tampa quickly made him this year's first undrafted player to sign. Reportedly looked amazing at Syracuse and only has to beat out Chase Edmonds (not a problem). Some foresee R White in a rotation considering the most carries he's ever had was 148 in college. Tucker is currently RB 92, so he's free.

Agreed lots of ways to win. Just showing how league scoring effects my strategy. And the NFL has changed a lot in recent years. Crazy stat: 2002 to 2012 an average of 7 Rbs had 300+ carries each year. Over the past decade... 1.5. Stick a fork in the bell cow. Yet some draft like nothing changed.
-
Weird stat... In 2022 Cousins was the most hit Qb. In 2021 he was the 3rd most hit. In 2020 he was again the most hit. Jeesh, surprising Cousins can keep on playing. Imagine how good he'd have been with a decent o-line.

A friend is in a league with arbitrary 5 point bonus for 100+ yd games. Stupid scoring i know (99 yds= 9.9 , 100 yds= 15... ridiculous) I told him if I were in that league (which is ppr), I'd be looking at big yardage Wrs the first two rounds, since Wrs eclipse 100+ yds way more often than Rbs. Last year's top 10 Wrs did it 71 times, while the top 10 Rbs only 45 times, and 9 of those were from just one player - Henry. Throw in ppr and drafting early Wrs makes good sense in that league, with less injury/under-performance risk than Rbs. Also works because today's NFL has decent Rbs available in later rounds, much more than a decade ago.

I'll save everyone time.... CJGJ is Lions defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
-
Agreed. My league... QB's score 0.5 pt per completion and score 6 per TD - run or pass. Bonus points for 300 yd passing games. As such running qb's are devalued. Yet some schmucks are gonna draft Lamar Jackson and Justin Fields way too soon, because their cheatsheet said so. Great for me, but the lesson is - know your scoring.
-
No doubt, plenty of QB depth. If I can't get the QB I want in the 5th, then like you I'll be waiting on Rodgers, Cousins, Smith, Goeff... much later. And probably draft 2 Qbs, hoping one hits Normally, I only draft one.
-
All my mock drafts... 1 RB and 3 WR's later, round 5. Time for QB - Herbert or Lawrence is waiting every time. Love it. Just hope it's holds true for the real draft.

If Rodgers, Mosely and Breece Hall stay healthy, Jets are going to win Super Bowl
GobbleDog replied to Tivoli's topic in FFToday Board
True, but it feels a lot like Brett Favre Jets... nobody knew what to expect - that team over-achieved until playoffs. Could be similar Rodgers. Jets squeak wildcard and then out after game or two. They have a sneaky good defense so Rodgers doesn't have to be superman. -
Ravens sign RB Melvin Gordon III to 1-year, $3.1M deal
GobbleDog replied to polecatt's topic in FFToday Board
Was O.J. Simpson was too busy? Melvin Gordon? What the hell? I like Dobbins 4th-5th rd adp, so it's a bit concerning. Don't see Gordon as a red zone threat - Jackson, Dobbins, Edwards... take those. More likely 3rd down work. And most likely won't stay healthy. Meh. Still surprising they paid him so much. Makes me wonder... how's Dobbins looking at OTA's? -
Mattison is clear No. 1 in Minnesota... for now. From what I've read Mattison's metrics are average at best, and there's more competition than people realize. Even if Mattison begins season as starter, no reason Vikings won't switch if he's not producing. Supposedly Ty Chandler is the best pass catcher on the team and some wonder if he isn't the starter by mid-season. ETA - Chandler isn't the only RB lottery ticket in MIN... Dewayne McBride - Viking's 7th rd pick out of UAB. Chandler probably has edge being a sophomore and pass catching skill.

Remember when America hated lounge singers? I still live in that world.

Mixon shared the load with Perine last year (210 to 95 carries). Maybe splits like 60% - 40% this year. Maybe. Mixon still gets 3rd down work and most goal-lines. I prefer sleepers competing to start, get goal lines, or can catch. Brown seems more like an injury lottery ticket.
-
I see Chase Brown available at the end of most mocks, so he's basically free. It's stunning the Bengals didn't draft any early RBs in one of the deepest RB classes in recent history. Instead waiting til rd 5 taking Illinois' Chase Brown. Clearly Bengals don't think Mixon is done, despite not looking great last year. Maybe they know something we don't, undisclosed injury or whatever. Regardless, can't imagine 5th round Brown stealing starting job. Mixon will get his 10+ carries, goal-line work and receptions... Brown gets change of pace carries, but that won't amount to much. Might take a Mixon injury to become fantasy relevant.
-
"Fantasy expert" I listen to loves Tank. Expects 3rd round Etiene to disappoint, mainly because no goal line work - Tank's new job. My fear is even if Tank gets a ridiculous 8 TDs... the other half of 16 games are 50 yds and a cloud of dust. 5 points loses ff games.
-
Based on my mocks on ESPN and Yahoo, I consistently get Harris in the 9th round and sometimes 10th. But we need to keep that one on the down low. I think Harris is looking at 10+ Tds.
-
What's his injury? I sorta like Pacheco - Chiefs 7th round afterthought draft pick in 2022, to starter in 2023. Doesn't catch and doesn't run much either because Chiefs don't play that way. Safe for 10+- fantasy points every week, but gonna need about 8 TDs to justify his adp (6th rd) which he should get. Just not much more.
-
Howell is a poor man's Josh Allen. White boy can run and throw. Skins gonna design him run plays.
-
I prefer Howell to Pickett. Admittedly I think Pickett is worthless junk. But I also hear great things about Howell. Redskins going to surprise people this year.
