8 days ago I was at work and had the chills. My office is cold so at first I didn't think anything about it; normally I walk outside and warm up. That wasn't working this day and I suspected that I had a fever. Went home and was 101+. No other flu symptoms. But I had this burning sensation when I peed. I figured that it was due to the fever. But over the following days as my fever subsided the sensation stayed. And I've been waking up 3-4 times per night to pee. And it smells bad. And it has sometimes been cloudy. All the signs of a urinary tract infection, which men rarely get because our urethras are way longer than chicks. But I figured I better go see the doc. My doc is OOTO this week so they got me in with an NP (ended up avg. looking woman with nothing remarkable in the cans). Sure enough I had apparently a very high white blood cell count in my pee. The NP seemed perplexed that I was still alive, mentioning kidney problems, sepsis, etc. Several times she said something like "you must be very tough," to which I was like "no really, it was a fever and a burning sensation." As an aside, I also get the burning sensation when I cvm. It is a little awkward to have this conversation with a woman you've just met. Anyway, I suspect I caught this from my wife who had a UTI a few months ago, and it sat there building up in my system until now. But the internet says that UTIs are pretty much not contagious, and the internet never lies. Anyone ever have one, or hear of a guy having one? Djgb or penultimate, your medical opinion?
