gottabesweet84 0 Posted October 26, 2005 Detroit desperately needs receiver Roy Williams to play this week with Charles Rogers suspended for one more game and Kevin Johnson out for the season with an Achilles tendon injury. Williams practiced in pads for the first time Wednesday since injuring his left quadriceps Oct. 16 against Baltimore, forcing him to miss the next two-plus games. SmartassBoiler 0 Posted October 26, 2005 From rotoworld: Roy Williams (questionable, quadriceps) practiced in pads today, but didn't participate in all team activities. "When we start throwing routes you want that to be full speed so we can time some things up and he’s not full speed, especially in practice," coach Steve Mariucci said. He's not a good play against the Bears regardless.
Cuse9 129 Posted October 26, 2005 Roy is starting....starting on my "Fock off team"! All talent, no heart...that's what Woy Williams is....piece of chit!

swamp dog 0 Posted October 26, 2005 Roy is starting....starting on my "Fock off team"! All talent, no heart...that's what Woy Williams is....piece of chit! there are days i agree with you...but then i remember him being on crutches for most of the week and playing on sundays last year. and promptly having ankle surgery when the season ended. but definitely some mixed signals coming from him. Da Bomb 0 Posted October 26, 2005 im pretty sure im in the minority on this one, but i think roy williams reminds me a whole lot of a superstar WR that jeff garcia used to throw quite a bit too. its just a hunch, but im quietly stashing him in my leagues and expecting a potentially huge second half. At the beginning of the season I had a discussion with a buddy of mine... saying Roy reminded me of a young TO. As long as he focused on the game and put in the work... he could become just as dominant. Only time will tell but the present isn't looking too good. I also got Roy stashed on my bench for second half... I hope he pans out cause I passed up on L. Fitz during the draft and I've been regretting that decision all season so far. I'm hurting at WR this week due to byes and injuries... would be nice to plug in RW for some digits.
Guest Moose Knuckle Ball Four Posted October 27, 2005 Lions CB Dré Bly underwent successful surgery today to repair his dislocated right wrist, an injury suffered during Sunday’s 13-10 victory at Cleveland. The surgery was performed by Dr. Tom Hunt, an associate of Dr. James Andrews, in Birmingham, Ala. He is expected to miss 3-4 weeks and play with a cast when he returns. Offensive tackle Jeff Backus did not practice Wednesday afternoon due to an ankle injury, but is expected to suit up on Thursday. Wide receivers Roy Williams (quadriceps) and Eddie Drummond (knee) did some practicing with the team on Wednesday, but did not fully participate. Head coach Steve Mariucci will asses later in the week whether either player can play on Sunday against the Bears. “Yeah, [Roy Williams] came out and padded up,” said Mariucci. “He did pat-and-go and then he did some individual drills. But when we start throwing routes you want that to be full speed so we can time some things up and he’s not full speed, especially in practice. So it’s probably not well enough to go full speed just yet.” Defensive tackle Shaun Rogers also sat out of Wednesday’s practice and his availability for Sunday’s game against the Bears is unclear. “I don’t know if we will have him for Sunday or not,” said Mariucci. “He is rehabbing a lot of different things, primarily the knee, but he’s living in that treatment room trying to get better. He still a little tight and a little sore and a little swollen; I don’t know about his availability just yet.” The following players have been listed on the Detroit Lions' injury report: CB Dré Bly (wrist) is out. LT Jeff Backus (ankle), DT Marcus Bell (shoulder), WR Eddie Drummond (knee), LS Don Muhlbach (knee), DT Shaun Rogers (knee) and WR Roy Williams (quad) are questionable. DT Dan Wilkinson (back) is probable. Bly, Backus, Bell, Drummond, Rogers, Williams and Wilkinson each missed part or all of the team portion of practice today. Guest Loose Circuits Posted October 27, 2005 I just traded for Roy and Kevin Jones (gave up Glenn and Droughns). I think the potential for Detroit's offense to turn it around is there. They have a decent schedule going out, but they have had a pretty rough one so far outside of GB (season opener) and Cleveland (which they played w/o 3 of top 4 wideouts)/ The potential for these guys is huge and I am a gambling man- buying low and selling high.... I already had Keyshawn on my team and the week 9 Dallas bye and Chad's week 10 bye was going to be killer. Now I feel comfortable mixing and matching Andre Johnson, Roy, and Burleson in there with Chad and Keyshawn. I'd say I am still ok at wr. Between Roy, Andre Johnson, and Burleson I am expecting big things out of at least 1 and mediocre things out of another- not sure who is going to do what. Having said that, this is encouraging news. I am hopeful that Roy can be back week 9 cause I am skeptical of starting Andre v the Jags and expect the Minnesota v Detroit with be a make or brake shootout to determine the challenger to the Bears in the NFC North...
