Let me post a little reasoning behind this deal...

 

Obviously giving up a first round pick isnt easy, but at the 4 spot i was targetting someone and was almost certain he would be taken and probably would have wanted to trade down on draft day anyhow. So i figured i could get a lot for that pick right now and IMO there will be a lot of guys in the 2nd and 3rd round worth picking. Some mite be concerned that i wont get a #1 rb but i can almost guarantee there will be a legit #1 in round 2 which is why i was able to take this deal. Having 4 picks in rounds 2-3 seems like a huge plus and the extra rookie pick was the sticking point to the deal for me.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have 2 premier RBs as an anchor for my team.

 

However, that being said, I can be talked into moving down in the 1st round if the price is right.

That's gonna be hard to beat. Your second rounder just became the 4th overall pick so all you really lost was a third round pick and the 11th pick in the rookie draft.

 

I think Jwood got the better end of this one and it will pay off rather well, losing a third and a rookie pick is a small price to pay for the 4th overall. At the same time, I can see why Smitty made the deal, quantity over quality isn't a bad way to go, but it all depends on how valuable that 1.4 pick is.

I thought that would be the opinion on here, IMO jwood is in a really great situation right now with the pair of deals that he has pulled. However, i plan on using my superb drafting skills to more than make up for my loss of a first round pick

don't forget Jwood gave up his 2nd as well...

 

Both owners are in pretty unique spots, one has 1.4 and 1.5 (esp with me at 1.6 ) and the other could own the late 2nd & early 3rd rounds

I gotta admit that after looking at it a little closer I can see how Smitty may have made out on this deal. I probally would've looked for another pick from the vet draft instead of swapping those rookie picks, but Jwod may not have gotten as much of an upperhand as I thought when I first looked at it.

Look at it this way...I only lost a 3rd round pick out of this deal and my 2 starting running backs in a 12 team league are probably be some combo of the following:

 

Clinton Portis

Ahman Green

Shaun Alexander

Deuce McAllister

 

Their production, including reception points, is gonna make up for any receiver I probably would have drafted in the 3rd round. I also have 2 fifth round picks this year to help ease the sting of losing the 3rd rounder. I can still get some pretty good WR/QB talent with those picks.

IMO, Smitty should have asked for more, but I can see why he was willing to make that trade. The big thing is what he gets with your rookie pick. If it was me, I would've asked for one of your two 5th round picks, but if he feels the #11 pick in the rookie draft is more valuable than it makes more sense for him to do that.

That's why I would've pushed for one of your two 5th rounders instead of taking the rookie pick.

Dont be too sure about that...the 11th pick in this years rookie draft has a lot of value.
