Fumbleweed 546 Posted May 2, 2006 Since the Eagles missed out on Javon Walker, Eric Moulds, David Givens, etc.,.. and/or a top rookie receiver in the draft, I am starting to slide McNabb down in my rankings. Just wondering if others were doing the same. Â I like McNabb pretty well and I think he's always got potential to be a fantasy force, but who's going to do all the catching in Philly? Â Also, since they didn't add any RBs via the draft, you'd have to think Westbrook's value is pretty good right now....but that's a different question. Â I am just concerned about McNabb's numbers based on who he has to throw to..........

Byars41 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Andy Reid is still going to pass the ball over 60% of the time and McNabb's WRs aren't any worse than they were pre-TO. so i expect him to still be real solid statistically.
famousb 11 Posted May 3, 2006 you know, i've NEVER liked McNabb and could possibly be one of his biggest naysayers over the past several years... HOWEVER, i was just compiling some avgs. for QB scoring over the last few seasons (4 for McNabb) and he's really only about 2 points per game below Manning as far as scoring average - and that's including 2 seasons of pre-TO and before Westy really started coming into his own... Now he doesn't have TO again, but it seems like the eagles have invested a little bit more into protecting him and giving him more time, plus if they actually do run the ball opposing Ds will have to respect the play action some. I really think w/ Westy coming back healthy, McNabb may actually be able to put up top 5 QB numbers due to the swing passes & screens. Â Seriously, the WR situation there is no worse than pre-TO, and before TO was ever there McNabb was always ranked top 5 FF QBs, but now that TO is gone, people are starting to talk like he's going to fall out of the top 10... Â And really, i've HATED McNafro for the last 5 years and wouldn't have EVER thought about putting him on my squad. But this year, i honestly think he'll be an INCREDIBLE value because he'll probably slide to at LEAST late 4th, and if he goes into the 6th it would be incredible... Rye & Leaf 0 Posted May 3, 2006 With the offense that Andy Reid runs, they need a lot of production from the WRs. Reggie Brown is going to have to carry the load as the #1 receiver this year. He will be a great later round pick for owners who draft RB heavy in the early rounds of the draft. Â Also, I don't expect a big drop off in McNabb's numbers this year..... XToday 0 Posted May 3, 2006 It's still not too late to trade for Ashley Lelie or Charles Rogers...
Sweetness_34 0 Posted May 3, 2006 I will target Reggie Brown but I will not touch Mcnabb unless I get him as a back up. Chances are someone will draft him high so most likely I will not touch him. Yes the Eagles had good success before TO, but Mcnabb's #s were not that good FF wise, especially in a TD centric league (QBs get 6 pts/TD thrown). I will draft Aaron Brooks, Kurt Warner, Drew Bledsoe and even David Carr before I touch Mcnabb this year.
MDC 7,387 Posted May 3, 2006 Assuming he stays healthy: Â 24 TDs, 12 INTs, 3,450 passing yards, 300 rushing yards, 2 TDs.
mdubz 0 Posted May 3, 2006 he's been a force in the past without great offensive weapons, i don't see why he can't be this year (assuming he's recovered from his injury). i expect a solid top 5 qb year from dnabb.
wild_and_crazy_guy 5 Posted May 3, 2006 Is McNabb fully recovered from his injury? When healthy, he is good enough to put up some decent fantasy numbers even without a top WR. I have not heard much since his surgury last season, and don't know if he is still in the recovery process. That would be my only issue with McNabb.
GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted May 3, 2006 Reid has continually insisted over the off-season that the Eagles will run the ball more than last year. They have to if they plan on getting back on the winning track. Â I think McNabb is still a tier 2 QB, but I would drop him down in that tier. Â He'll never have another year like 2 years ago, but he'll never have another year like he did last year (inconsistent as hell).

Yeah, I was going to say that I remember him putting up some pretty impressive fantasy stats for a QB even with players like Thrash and Pinkston catching his passes. You'd figure they'll look to feature LJ Smith more, and I think Reggie Brown could really step up this year.

If you worry about the hernia surgery then you have to worry about T. Brady because he had the same surgery after the season.

McNabb's been working out with most of the receivers at the NovaCare Complex most of the off-season (before he would work out at one of his homes in Arizona).  He's fine. They showed him a month ago at a charity game dunking a basketball.
