Ive never played with negative scoring, so it will be new for me as well as some of you guys, but anything that will help alleviate ties and limit this ridiculously high scoring set up we already have, I am all in favor of. Guys are gonna be losing games in this league scoring 150pts......crazy I tell youzzzzz.

so are we still not sure on where the draft will be held?

...still not sure, but dont panic....we're still NOT holding it in Cleveland!

You guys wanna go with PUNTERs in this thing?......maybe a half point for each successful FG they hold, and 2 pts for any corner kicks inside the 5??........ on second thought, we'll just keep 'em here ... :argue:

Where is the scoring system posted?

on the site....Im going there to update that negativity right now.

just to clarify....only fumbles LOST will produce negativity....fumbles UN-lost will remain , well UN-uh-counted.....

I don't think a 1 point penalty is enough for ints if passing tds are 6 points. Can we vote on this? If a passing td was worth 4 points, a 1 point penality seems almost fair, but if a passing td is worth 6 points, an interception should be worth -2 or possibly even -3 points.

INTs are -2.....tighten up.

INTs should = -2 points. theres no way that there are 6 point passing TD's and not a -2 points for INTs. there must be -2 points for INTs its already settled.

What scoring have you guys been lookin' at? INTS ARE -2 on our league scoring. We're good. but solid of you to stay on top of things. and I agree....just gonna make my boy Eli that much more valuable.

I was looking at the defensive scoring....nevermind.....i guess -2 is good enough for ints.....i think it is just too hot and i'm looking for something to complain about.. :(

1: Eli Manning is my pick at 1.04, so you will never have him.

2. lol

3. I propose the following scoring:

Ru/Rec yds = 1/.1 (10 = 1, 9 = .9)

PaYd = 1/.2 (20 = 1, 18 = .9)

Since we have decimal scoring, it makes sense to use decimal yardage scoring.

All TDs 6

fumbles lost -2 (1 for the fumble and one for the turnover)

D/ST

Sack = 2

Int = 2

Forced Fumble = 1

Fumble Recovered = 1

Safety = 4

Returns over 50 yds = 2 pts (if possible in Yahoo)

DTDs (any, including punt/kick returns) = 6

kicking

1-35 = 3 pts, 36-49 = 4 pts, 50+ = 5 pts

Just my $.02

I haven't looked at Yahoo yet, but I'll do so now.

:(

Fractional/Decimal scoring is in place as was suggested, so it will be tallied by singles yards. But Im not absolutely 100% positive on all the specifics of this so Ill check it out and iron out the kinks. But we'll run with it to avoid ties. Any of you vets with Yahoo experience playing in leagues using the fractional method, feel free to chime in.

FGs are set up simply to award 3pts for anything shorter than 40, 4 pts anything between 40-49, and 5 pts for 50+yarders.

Our D/ST scoring system is simple and straight forward, and designed not to overvalue the D......because for God's sake, noone will even draft their D until ATLEAST the 12th round, and there's no way we should overscore for that facet of FF. Even though we're all impacted equally, Im not interested in losing because someone's waiver wire D goes off for 40 pts because theyre playing Houston.....its just a single point across the board for sacks, ints and fumble recoveries. Safeties are scored at face value.....2 pts. Defensive and special teams return TDs are all worth 6, no matter how long. Id favor 2 pts awarded for special teams returns gained at over 50yds, though its not set up and Im not sure if its possible, but Ill look into that now. A 50yd return is exceptional and rare and deserves 2 pts.....as opposed to a sack, of which most teams will have atleast 30-40. A team will be lucky to have 5 returns longer than 50yds all year.

The waivers process is yet to be completely ironed out, but dont sweat that. It will basically be set up so that free agents will be frozen from game time Sunday (or Thur or Sat for players involved in those games) until Tuesday at a time yet to be determined. How we set this up specifically regarding time or other criteria will NOT affect how we draft our teams, so dont worry about it. We'll iron it out.

Eli Manning will be on my team by no later than the 6th round.....mark it down. :first:

Alright, as far as our DRAFT goes.......Ive been waiting to hear from one of our guys here on this neutral site where we can hold our draft with absolutely no outside influences, but it hasnt happened yet, so Im making the call. We will hold our draft here at the Mocking Station beginning this Sunday the 11th at Noon EST. I realize we will of course NOT be mocking, but our league is free so close enough. If none of you have noticed, that forum is moving with minimal views, so it will be low key and I promise with minimal outside influences. Any unwanted and inappropriate commentary will feel the full wrath our our league membership .....led by yours truly. But Im truly not very concerned with that. There will be a 12 hour limit on picks, and of course I would encourage faster selections if possible, but we will ABSOLUTELY make exceptions to this rule if need be. Things happen, and they may happen to any one of us, so trust that if something out of your control affecting this draft comes up, we'll understand and extend the alloted time.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Im not wanting to come across as 'Napoleonic', because Im nowhere near as small as that guy was for one, but Im just gonna make come decisions to keep us moving for the sake of expedition.....when regarding things that I feel are fair and impact us all equally.

All excellent - once again my thanks for putting all this together.

Only question I have is why hold the draft here on a public forum when we have a private forum at Yahoo. Just use the Yahoo message board on our league page and we 12 shall be the only ones who can access it.

personally, i don't care if someone sees who i'm drafting. what if they do? if they make inappropriate comments about draft picks, solo can petition the mods to warn them to stay off the mock draft board. it already has minimal traffic. who cares if someone sees who were drafting?

jmho, fwiw.

Brother, your doing a fine job and I'll kick your tail reguardless what scoring you fools put in place.

I'm cool with the Sunday draft.

I need to read this thread before I go to bed at night to keep up. But I do however check the fantasy site for messages religously.

This is the part I am concerned about.

commentary on who was picked = good

commentary on who wasn't picked = not cool

I already gave the example and it remains valid:

You are sitting at 2.03

Pick is at 2.01

Someone, say Terrell Owens, has fallen farther than he likely should have.

2.01 picks and it's Jamal Lewis

The peanut gallery starts yapping about what a dumb pick that was because Owens was sitting there.

2.02, who was going to draft Dillon, reads this commentary and goes, "oh yeah! Owens is there!!"

2.02 takes Owens.

2.03 (you) end up here:

That is not right.

That is why IF we do it here, discussion must be limited to who's been picked with no discussion of players available - it's just good draft ettiquitte. I've been in a dozen leagues over the years and every single one has this in place. It's something that goes without saying, really. If we're wanting to give this example as "experts" that's cool - post round by round updates here or just wait until it's done and post the whole draft at once. People will see who we all drafted and will be able to comment after the fact. That is in no way unvalidated if we wait to post it.

In 34's draft it was cool - he was the only one from that league in here. We could tell him he was dumb for his CMart pick because X, Y & Z player were there. In our league, all 12 of us are here - it's not the same circumstance.

My fear of hosting it here is that some members will not be respectful enough to refrain from discussion of players who have not yet been picked.

If we are truly "experts" then we sure as hell don't need the advice of the unwashed masses of FFT.

This is why I drink heavily during these types of drafts.

No offense scooter, but there is enough people here that don't care for you that they will post smack just because it's you. And that would not be cool.

:headbanger:

I'm no expert, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night (yeah retards, it's old, but someone had to say it)

I vote for league members only smack during draft. Let the masses create a thread somewhere else and bash us.

none taken, and I truly wouldn't care - as I don't now, what anyone has to say about me. I am what I am (thank you, popeye) - but it's the ettiquitte part I'm concerned with.

Damn - i'm gone for 12 hrs and you guys go crazy on here

I have more important things to worry about other than who's watching our draft and scoring details. I'm more worried about who I'm going to take with the #1 pick

I'm taking back what I said last night about not taking LJ about 8 posts  before you guys started to  .

I might have to take LJ first  - - Where's my magazine for stats and expertise advice and knowledge!

come on joc...you and I both know that LJ is far too risky with the possibility of Priest coming back. None of you in the top 3 will take him and I'll be forced to.

it sucks donkey balls, but it's the fate I appear to be doomed to. Life will go on and I'm sure I'll suffer for it, but at 1.04 the Unwashed Masses will have to select Larry Johnson.

Sad but true. Now quit posturing and go pick Terrell Owens already.

Scooter-

Yahoo's doesnt offer slow draft options. We'd all have to sit down and get it done right then and there. I think the allotted time between picks is something like 90 seconds.....so its just not going to work. That was the first thing I looked into when we set the league site up. But we're gonna be OK as far as the 'chimers' go. Id absolutely encourage forum members to view the draft if they wish, but we'll be clear that the right thing to do is not make this a "Price is Right" kindof thing where you look into the audience for whether you should pick the box of soap or the baking soda. Itll work well I have a feeling, and we wont all have to go registering at another site and wait for the 12 of us to get TIGHTENED UP!!

Im excited about the draft fellas and the league in general, and cant wait til mid-July when things start warming up and the whispers become chatter. Ill stay just as amped about this league and how we finish in Decemeber as I am right now, win or lose. Dont sweat me falling off the pace, and losing interest. If Im a goner, Ill gather up my chips, take it on the chin, and cheer on the rest of you schmoes.......nothing worse than a commissioner who's bringing up the rear and sucking wind. Wont happen with this guru. You guys beat me, youre doin' something!!

What part of "LEAGUE MESSAGE BOARD" do you people keep missing?

:wall: :wall:

Stick with me:

Yahoo has FFB leagues.

We are in one

Yahoo leagues have message boards

last I checked, there was no time limit for a Yahoo message board post to be posted.

Thus we (the 12 people in this league) could post our picks on THAT board just as easily as we could on one here.

And since it is a private league with credentials required, we are assured that some ###### doesn't come in and talk about a bunch of dudes not already taken.

GET IT??????????????????????????????????????

scooter, i get what you are saying, but lets just keep it simple. from what i know, the fftoday forum for leagues already has little views from outside members. there should be no problems, and if there is, just report it. i know the message board idea seems easy, but i dont think we should switch things up and make people even more confused. keep the draft here at fftoday.

i'll send it to you tonight....if we do it here it's fine but it's a lot of work for the person in charge doing everything manually

HTH

lol

Welcome to 2006. Who does manual anything anymore?

Perhaps if you've gotten over your fears of the wrath of the sun god enough to bravely venture out of your cave, and start walking erect, you can take a shot at modern technology.

Unless of course you want to use your abbacus to check everything over the course of the season, but I'll leave that up to you. :P

Im still not sure I follow....

yeah it scores it for you if you have " live scoring " for 10 bucks or so...otherwise you have to wait until the next day to see your team tallies.......i like adding my scores up after i get home from the bar Sunday night....just makes it take more time.......i have never played in a league where you get fractional points....i think it's silly but whatever

Well it was decided many pages back, so there.

Look, it's simple - even a guy returning from the bar can do it.

1 yd = .1 points. So 79 yds = 7.9 points.

Passing is 2.5 yds = .1 point. So 25 yards = 1 point.

See? Simple.

No need to whine. We'll all see our scores the next day anyway - but we wanted to avoid ties, and decimal scoring is the best way to do that.

:D

scooter-

just accept the fact we're doing it on the other fftoday board. that's the way it is.

I will accept that just as soon as you accept that the Sooners suck. Deal?

Go Lumberjacks! Hahahahahaha!

:first:

seriously though - I'm ok with it so long as solo lays the smack down. All I care about is ettiquittte - location isn't important to me.

Clash-

Thanks for getting back to me, and Ill look over what you send tonite. You know Im patient, but just trying to keep things moving. Nothing is set in stone, though. But listen, Im trying alot of new things here with this league such as negative points, PPR (which though common, Ive just never factored it into drafting), NO divisions, return yd points, and now decimal or 'fractional' scoring, so what the heck.....we're old dogs but we're never too old.....and Yoda was an old Guru, but he was still hell with a lightsaber!

And Football Scoot.....tighten up already. You dont need to drop the hammer on our pals like that. I know your style can be a bit raw some times, but treat your elders with respect you friggin' young whippersnapper. That's one consistent demand that Ill make. Much respect for Clash.....he's one of the good guys. <_<

Johnson/harrison/insert top 9 wr here/next three picks rb/rb/rb!

Since we're sharing, I'm going kicker in the first round, just to get that position out of the way, then RB for the next 8 rounds...after that it's a toss up... :ninja:

And Football Scoot.....tighten up already. You dont need to drop the hammer on our pals like that. I know your style can be a bit raw some times, but treat your elders with respect you friggin' young whippersnapper. That's one consistent demand that Ill make. Much respect for Clash.....he's one of the good guys. ;)

Alright fellas, I need to tighten up!

Clash & I have never had a problem on this forearm. I assume he knows I'm pulling his leg, so don't fret over a little trash talk. You guys are doin it a-plenty, and what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

And a little FYI, I'm probably as old if not older than most of you.

:ninja:

No worries man. Anything from me should be chalked up as "friendly banter".

Sorry man - thought sooner fans could handle a little prod there. My bad. :(

Harrison at 2.12 eh?

Good luck with that.
