HOU Homers?

Recommended Posts

I am not a "Hou Homer" but think it will be V Morency. He is young and talented. He could be starting by week 6 when DD is out for the year with a broken ankle or something. He could put up decent numbers. Then Houston will be wishing they took Bush........Stupid Houston!

Also dont forget about J Wells. He looked solid last year as well. I still like Morency.

Hmmm last I saw Wells was a FA.. you have news of his re-signing to share?

Backup will be smith... Morency is having a hard time adjusting to the new scheme. Unless he progresses rapidly, look for Smith to be the guy or Lundy if he excels in camp and beats Smith.

Antowaine Smith will likely be the back-up. He's a reliable vet and the new coaching staff brought him in for a reason. He's also had over 100 rushes every year he's been in the league. There's not much reason to think he wouldn't do so again.

I don't think Kubiak would have brought him in if he didn't feel he'd have a set role in the offense. Kubiak also comes from Denver, so it wouldn't be hard imagining him giving two backs established roles in the backfield. Between the carries and receptions at the position, Davis will still see the lions share, but Smith is likely to get his 100-150 carries.

With that said, should Dom Davis go down with an injury, I think it's more likely that Morency or Lundy would then fill his role in the offense while Antowain Smith would simply keep the role he's already had. He may get an extra 50-75 carries in the season as a result, but I don't think Smith would be the guy taking over Davis' role.
