Eriadoc 4 Posted July 5, 2006 OK, there's been a lot of discussion about the seventh pick this year and how unfortunate it is to have that pick (12-team, of course). I have been blessed with the seventh pick in my keeper league. The way our keepers work is it costs me a pick two rounds higher than the prior year to keep a player. So I am keeping SSmith for a 3rd round pick this year. So I now face a dilemma. In terms of strategy, do I have to go RB-RB in the first two rounds? Who are y'all seeing in the fourth round, in terms of quality RBs? Is Manning really a consideration at seven given this scenario? Right now, I am thinking that Edge/Tiki/Jordan should be there at seven, but in the second round I am seriously thinking it might be better to pair a top-flight WR with SSmith and gamble on a RB in the 4th and 5th rounds. Anyway, strategically speaking, where's the value in this scenario?

Eriadoc 4 Posted July 5, 2006 IBTM Hmmm, maybe I should try to clarify. I'm not really asking what I should do as much as I am trying to get some discussion on strategy. We have discussions all the time based on RB-RB-WR or QB-RB-WR, etc. None of them have the dynamic of being a keeper league wherein a marquee player can be had at a discount. This can change the draft strategy somewhat. Granted, this is based on my specific question, but it's really more of a "What would you do if you were guaranteed SSmith in the 3rd round, at draft pick #7?" kind of question. Oh well .... mods move or whatever if you feeel you need to. No offense intended.
