Boston 0 Posted July 11, 2006 *Jeffords was hailed as a man of extreme principle when he bolted from the GOP and handed the Senate to the Dems. Yet, Lieberman has no principles for possibly running as an independent. The difference is? *I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with a party that told us six years ago that Lieberman could be a hearbeat away from being President but now is unfit to be a Senator. That seems like a very short period of time to go from the penthouse to the outhouse based on what seems like one issue. *I would think that Leberman's stand would be appreciated by a party that celebrates diversity. Shouldn't the fact he made up his made based on experience and principle and went against the party "norm" be applauded. Isn't this something that should be awarded one of those Kennedy Profile in Courage awards?

Lieberman wants it both ways. *I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with a party that told us six years ago that Lieberman could be a hearbeat away from being President but now is unfit to be a Senator. (and the party didn't pick him; Al did). "The party" is saying that if he's going to be a Democrat--which he claims he is--he needs to follow the same rules as every other Democrat in a primary: win or go home. It may seem like one issue, because that's what Lieberman wants to make it seem like. Social security is an issue. Trade is an issue. Choice is an issue. And for God's sake, even if it WAS the only issue, isn't a trillion dollar, 30,000 casualty war a big enough issue on which to decide? *I would think that Leberman's stand would be appreciated by a party that celebrates diversity. Lieberman has been a legit liberal (one of the few mainstream liberals in the party) but his support for the war is game, set and match as far as the far left is concerned. Gephardt69 0 Posted July 12, 2006 I agree with joe in that lieberman is nothing more then a jew bastard who in typical jewish fashion thinks only of himself and money. in fact, his campaign slogan should be "I like kike!"

Lieberman has never been called a liberal by anyone--not even the Republicans.
Voltaire 5,305 Posted July 12, 2006 I disagree with Lieberman alot (social conservative, fiscal liberals is the opposite of me) but I respect him as a man of conviction.
