Vikings4ever 550 Posted July 25, 2006 Same basic premise as the TD thread. Do you think Priest should get in or not? And if you think yes for TD, and no for Holmes, why? EDIT: His career stats: 1734 rushes, 8035 yards, 4.6 YPC, 86 rushing TDs 334 receptions, 2945 yards, 8.8 YPC, 8 receiving TDs
mgs316 14 Posted July 25, 2006 I'll do the same for Priest as I did TD: Look at the players in his era. 2000: E James 1709 R Smith 1521 E George 1509 M Anderson 1487 C Dillon 1435 F Taylor 1399 J Lewis 1364 M Faulk 1359 J Bettis 1341 S Davis 1318 2001: P Holmes 1555 C Martin 1513 S Davis 1432 A Green 1387 M Faulk 1382 S Alexander 1318 C Dillon 1315 R Williams 1245 L Tomlinson 1236 G Hearst 1206 2002: R Williams 1853 L Tomlinson 1683 P Holmes 1615 C Portis 1508 T Henry 1438 D McAllister 1388 T Barber 1386 J Lewis 1327 F Taylor 1314 C Dillon 1311 2003: J Lewis 2066 A Green 1883 L Tomlinson 1645 D McAllister 1641 C Portis 1591 F Taylor 1572 S Davis 1444 S Alexander 1435 P Holmes 1420 R Williams 1372 2004: C Martin 1697 S Alexander 1696 C Dillon 1635 E James 1548 T Barber 1518 R Johnson 1454 L Tomlinson 1335 C Portis 1315 R Droughns 1240 F Taylor 1224 I just don't think 3 years of greatness from TD or PH is HoF worthy. Saw this stat: Career YPG: 1. Edgerrin James (125.68) 2.Jim Brown (125.52). Gotta love Edge.
DaveJ 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Honorable mention due to his dominance for a few years yes... HOF no. Just didnt' do it long enough to qualify for the Hall. Him and Bo Jackson are in the same boat.....
De Novo 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Honorable mention due to his dominance for a few years yes... HOF no. Just didnt' do it long enough to qualify for the Hall. Him and Bo Jackson are in the same boat..... His numbers were much better than Bo Jackson's, so I think it's a different boat. Larry Johnson's dominance (and potential for future dominance) may also cast a shadow over Holmes' greatness, whether it's fair or not. Based on his numbers, he deserves it more than TD but Denver wouldn't have won a ring w/o TD. KC didn't even come close.
