bjengel 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I know TE's are a dime-a-dozen, but everybody needs one on their team, can you please help me with which one I should take: The best of the lot left are: Heath Miller (PIT) Ben Watson (NE) L.J. Smith (PHI) Zack Hilton (NO) Jerramy Stevens (SEA) I've got to grab one of them - which one should I take?
PackYourNut 47 Posted July 25, 2006 Miller Hands Down... Beware of the post police!
juziuu 1 Posted July 25, 2006 I would go with Ben Watson. He had a good year in 05 and is expected to improve this year. Second would be Heath Miller.

PHI will still be a pass first team) 2) Heath Miller (Look for even more looks in the redzone now that the Bus is out of the picture) 3) Ben Watson (Freak of an athlete but Brady may spread the ball around too much to make him elite) 4) Jerramy Stevens (Another large target, but it's Alexander first when in GL situations) 5) Zach Hilton (not sold on the premise that Brees will click with this TE just because of his past with Gates) Hope that helps
RumbleReady 0 Posted July 25, 2006 LJ is the correct pick. He was top three last year until McNabb got hurt. After McNabb got hurt he had to stay in more and block. He lines up in the slot quite a bit and is a very athletic TE. Don't fall for the Watson hype because he tracked down Bailey last year. Watson is part of a TE by committee - Graham is the blocking TE and starter, therefore Watson will not be in all plays unless they are using a two TE set. I am not saying Watson will not produce, but he is more of a gamble for consistent production.
Polamalu43 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I personally like Miller the best... Go figure! LJ would be a solid pick as well. If you are going a higher risk higher reward type, Watson may possibly have the highest upside of the lot. Although, I like Hilton, I don't put him in with those three, and Stevens is overrated IMO. Parja 0 Posted July 25, 2006 You should have made it a poll...it would be interesting to see the results. I would imagine you would see a majority of the votes split among Miller, Watson, and LJ. Unless I can land Gates, I usually wait on a TE until the late rounds and take a chance on a guy with potential. Therefore, I'd go Watson.
duaneok66 0 Posted July 25, 2006 go with Miller . . . Watson has to split catches with about 90 other TEs on the roster . . .
Querymeisters 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I'd go Miller. He had six TDs last year as a rookie, and with Cowher showing a willingness to pass more late last season and Bus gone the Steelers will be passing a little more often close to the goalline. Ward and Miller were Roethlisberger's favorite goalline targets last year. And for the sake of disclosure...actually, I'm a Browns fan. L.J. drops a lot of passes. Ben Watson is a decent option, but will never be cut loose in the Patriots scheme. Hilton showed some promise last year, but he's a risk. Stevens, I'm just not sold on him repeating his 2005 numbers. Alluro 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Go With Ben Watson hands down ! If mini-camp is any indicator, Watson is getting ready to open up a can on the rest of the NFL. It felt like he caught 100 balls from Tom Brady during the three-day camp and the most encouraging sign was there seemed to be a lot of plays designed to get the ball in his hands, especially near the red zone. Everyone knows this guy is oozing with physical ability and once he puts it all together, Watson is going to be a flat-out nightmare for opposing defenses. Very few players in NFL history at the tight end position have been blessed with the combination of speed and power that Watson possesses. http://www.patriots.com/news/index.cfm?ac=...663&pcid=

Watson and Ben Troupe were that last year, and neither did much live up to the hype. This year its Watson, Zach Hilton and Alex Smith (TE). I'm not buying into again. If I could get the proven LJSmith in the 9th who was on FIRE before McNabb got hurt, and follow it up w/ Watson in the 13th (approximate ADP for both), I'd probably be happy w/ that. PTAKBuCS 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Am I right to assume that Kellen Winslow Jr is gone? I would take him above all these guys if he's still there. Cleveland papers are raving about his speed and one-handed catches in mini camp and that he is fully back from injury. If he's gone...I'd go with Heath Miller. If you want your #1 TE to be a guy who has played like 2 games in 2 seasons, has delusions of being a soldier, is still learning how to pop wheelies and has the mental acuity of a gnat, i hope you have a good backup. VikingFan 0 Posted July 25, 2006 Tough call both guys were doing quite well last year and then went in the dumper the minute the qb got hurt. That being said and as much as I like Miller you have to go with LJ, reason being they have no real viable wr's on that team and McNabb really utilized him last year, he was putting up some sick numbers until Mcnabb got hurt. I think Miller is more the red-zone target while LJ can get both td's and yards.

We blame the drop in production on McNabbs injury, but TO and DMc both went out within couple of weeks of each other...just saying we might not know how he's gonna play with no clear #1 WR to draw D away.
