ExtremeFajita 0 Posted July 28, 2006 I've read about several teams that will be incorporating two tight-end sets this year...Dallas and New England come to mind and I know a few others have been mentioned. My first thoughts are: 1.) Great! Bledsoe/Brady get more blockers and will be sacked less, more effecient, have two TEs to dump off to if needed 2.) More options for the rushing game, a plus for those teams' RBs 3.) Bad for that team's #1 receiving TE, since targets will be spread out more Obviously defenses will adjust to this and that will counteract much of 1.) and 2.) Your thoughts? davebg 0 Posted July 28, 2006 I think that it may lead to better numbers for guys like Whitten. Last season Whitten's numbers were down b/c he was constantly kept in at the line to block and help protect Bledsoe. By going to a 2-TE set there is greater chance that Whitten will be released into the pattern while the other TE blocks. Of course, one should take a look at what the "2nd" TE is capable of when doing such an analysis. Is the other TE more of a blocker or a pass catcher? Is the other TE a rookie, who will likely have difficulty adjusting to the blocking schemes a tthe NFL level?

I'll be looking at TEs from teams that won't be using 2 in their base sets. i just think it would feel like RBBC, or TEBC or whatever. for fantasy, two tight ends is a bummer. in football i think its a good shift for teams without top tier fullbacks (especially with this new trend of small, fast merriman type linebackers). more options in rushing, blocking, etc.
