esoitl 0 Posted August 2, 2006 i was reading the articles here about the new HC and how they will impact their teams this year for Minny: While the Vikings have talent at wideout, none of them are a proven commodity in the NFL. Koren Robinson had a 1200-yard season in just his second year in the league. Since then however, he's been a major disappointment both on and off the field. If he keeps his head straight he could prove to be a valuable asset to the Vikings, but I wouldn't be expecting a 1000-yard season from him at the moment. One thing that may be in his favor is the time he spent playing under Holmgren while with the Seahawks. Childress comes from Reid's staff and Reid became a head coach after spending time on Holmgren's staff in Green Bay. That being the case, Robinson is likely to have some understanding of the offense Childress will run. isnt that a bit of a stretch?
mggoilers 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Experience in a west coast offense is not an advantage? The learning curve is big. You see lots of players struggling to learn new terminology, assignments, etc in the WCO. Brett Favre? Philly WR's in the past? Mike Vick? It helps Koren quite a bit to have been successful in the WCO system, but more than anything he benefits from a lack of competition at the WR spot in Minny. murf74 461 Posted August 2, 2006 i was reading the articles here about the new HC and how they will impact their teams this yearfor Minny: isnt that a bit of a stretch? He played in the West Coast Holmgren system and his head coach is of the West Coast type system. I don't see the stretch.
esoitl 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Reid coached under Holmgren Childress coached under Reid KRob plays for Childress KRob played for Holmgren therefore KRob knows this system...... how is that a good argument?
mggoilers 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Reid coached under HolmgrenChildress coached under Reid KRob plays for Childress KRob played for Holmgren therefore KRob knows this system...... how is that a good argument? The 6 degrees of Bill Walsh i see your point, I think the writer may have over complicated the situation. The West Coast variants run by Holmgrem, Reid, and Childress are very similiar. The major differences being the play calling and personnel

Exactly. He knows the WCO. You just proved the point.
esoitl 0 Posted August 2, 2006 Exactly. He knows the WCO. You just proved the point. all WCO are not the same how is Childress connected to Holmgren besides coaching for Reid? whats to say that Reid even plays a similar offense to Holmgren? they dont really, look at the balance of play calling, how can you say that Seattles offense is anywheres near the pass first approach Philly takes? FlaHawker 24 Posted August 3, 2006 Reid coached under HolmgrenChildress coached under Reid KRob plays for Childress KRob played for Holmgren therefore KRob knows this system...... how is that a good argument? I think you are stretching the argument. the actual words satate that he will have an understanding of the offense, not that he "knows" the offense.
