DamageIncVacc 6 Posted August 20, 2006 Is he the starting TE in Denver?? I saw his TD, what a freak he is . 6-6 250 and fast. In 2 pre-season games for Denver he is 8-130 and a TD. (Only TE to really do anything for them in 2 games) Led recieving tonight with 4-73 and a TD. Seems like they really have no other TE. I see Alexander has 1 catch in 2 games . We know the system is friendly to TE's (other than putz) . just looking for opinions on him as I always take my TE as a sleeper in the lst round. (Last year Cooley, previous year Witten -2 for 2 so far)
Natural Lights 0 Posted August 20, 2006 I am a Denver season ticket holder. Two things S. Alexander is listed as the number one TE. But Scheffler has been amazing so far. He was even better last week versus Detroit. I do not know if this is a Cutler to Scheffler thing, or if the Rat has bigger plans here. Either way you should be able to get Scheffler as a #2 TE late. Ras66not99 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Let me set the tone.... It's Week 16..... thousands of fantasy Championships are on the line.... it's 3rd down and goal from the 3 yard line 1:47 on the clock Broncos down by 3...... Javon Walker & Rod Smith split out Wide both singled up..... Mike Bell in the backfield waiting anxiously, the Big Rookie who's been suprising all year Tony Scheffler in at TE.... Jake Plummer under center all of the Denver players going can make or break their teams chances of winning it all.... every single fantasy point counts... Plummer slides right Here's the snap.... OH it's a direct snap to the FB Kyle Johnson who punches it in for the score.... . And the Broncos take the lead with 2 minutes remaining in the game.... The fockin RAT Strikes again Advice.... Don't even get involved with Scheffler... it's not worth the headache

DamageIncVacc 6 Posted August 20, 2006 Sorry about that I forgot Nate was a TE. Tony may be the starter I was reading. May be a perfect TE2 after you get a more safe guy. With Nate Jackson missing a few practices due to an ankle injury, Scheffler has clearly been winning the battle to be the Broncos' primary receiving tight end, the Denver Post reports. Here is a good article about Tony i just read from the denver post. http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_4210095 This Tony Scheffler kid is quite a catch. Or Tony Schaeffer, as an announcer in the press box mistakenly said repeatedly, as the rookie from Western Michigan repeatedly made plays. Hey, it's preseason for everybody. Time to work the kinks out. Not everybody comes as prepared as Scheffler to do his job. After watching the Broncos sweat on third down and in the red zone a year ago, how big can the 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end be for this team? "The sky's the limit," said Scheffler, much more modest than his words might read. Tight end has long ceased to be grunt work in the pro game, in part because the Broncos believe it can be a star-making role. "With this (coaching) staff and these veterans, it's hard not to do well, with the position they put you in," Scheffler said. If Lelie will never be the impact player that the Broncos might have hoped, then Scheffler promises to be more than anybody bargained for. The NFL lists Scheffler, who led the Broncos with four catches for 73 yards against the Titans, as a second-round draft choice. Which should be all the evidence anyone needs to arrest Denver general manager Ted Sundquist and the team's scouting staff. That was a steal. Are you telling me there were 60 players selected ahead of Scheffler in the draft? I'd bet you a half million of Lelie's dollars that Scheffler catches more than the one touchdown your favorite disgruntled holdout produced for Denver in 2005. Coaches get on Scheffler's case about his blocking. Seems to me Sharpe heard the same complaints. Scheffler caught a touchdown pass from fellow rookie and ex-roommate Jay Cutler. They had to bunk together during the early weeks of training camp. "We're not roommates, we've moved out of the hotel, but he's still throwing me the ball, which I appreciate," said Scheffler, breaking into a grin. Fortunately for the future of the Broncos, their breakup was strictly personal, not professional.
