Help me evaluate a potential trade offer

Recommended Posts

One day after my draft and I am being offered a trade.

I get:

Ben Roethlisberger

Willie Parker

Randy Moss

I give up:

Steve McNair

Carnell Williams

Donald Driver

I'm inclined to pass on this one, but it is tempting. The guy really wants Cadillac Williams. I'm very leary of Randy Moss and am not sold on Willie or Ben either. I think it is a rather reasonable offer, but I am looking for other opinions.

My team is in my sig. His team is:

QB Roethsliberger, Pennington

RB Parker, Thomas Jones, Michael Bennett, Fred Taylor

WR Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Housh, Stallworth, Porter

TE Dallas Clark, Bubba Franks

D Chargers, Dolphins

K Longwell

Will answer yours. Please leave a link.

No way I do that trade.

I have Caddy ranked slightly ahead of FWP this year. I think Caddy will have more yards thru the air this year.

I think McNair has a better supporting cast and outperforms Roethlisberger this year.

If this is a PPR league, I think Driver has more value. If not, I think their yards will be similar and Moss will have a slight edge in the TD department.

Plus, if you do this trade you help his out of potential bye week problems.

I agree...don't do it. Moss might be tempting but he isn't worth the downgrade at the other 2 positions, specifically cadillac to willie parker. Your RBs are solid right now and you could probably wait until the year starts and get a serviceable WR if you need one for one of your solid RBs.

No way.

I don't see much, if any improvement at QB.

You would be downgrading at RB.

Moss is too big of a gamble.

However, with the news just breaking of Stallworth going to the Eagles, he is now WR heavy.

My recommendation is to make sure he knows how "lucky" he is regarding the Stallworth move, make him feel all warm and special about having sooooo many good receivers, and see if he'll give you Chad Johnson instead of Moss.

-OR-

Don't tell him about Stallworth, and have him just add him to the trade, 4 for 3.

Just my opinion.

I forgot to include the part about what sort of counter offers to make, if any. Thanks gphil for the input. I am thinking of a counter, but I know he will not give up CJ. I think I should lay out that if Caddy is part of the deal, then CJ has to be part also. That is crappy news for me with the Stallworth move to the Eagles. Wish I'd have known that BEFORE I picked Reggie Brown. :dunno:

I think I am still in decent shape with my receivers, but this could be an opportunity to get CJ. Only problem is that he drafted CJ with his 1st round pick, so he is going to want something big in return.

What about if I countered with the same trade, except I get CJ instead of Moss?

Exactly.

It's gotta be CJ instead of Moss.

He has got to know that he's okay at WR with Stallworth now anyway right?

Paint him into a corner. Either he doesn't value Stallworth and can throw him in with the intial offer, or he does value Stallworth and is okay with giving you CJ. He can't have his cake and eat it too.

No, I'm not a divorce attorney.

Just my opinion.

What about a 2 for 2 trade,

I give

Cadillac Williams

Donald Driver

I get

Chad Johnson

Willie Parker

I know he likes Williams and Driver and CJ, because they were on his team last year.

Is that a good deal?

the first trade is so close that you maybe should do it just cuz you got the whole steeler backfield.

the second trade is great for you. both rbs and wrs are comparable but CJ could be the biggest of all 4 players involved.

heres mine
