Donovan or Vick

Recommended Posts

Someone in my league made a comment about trading Donnovan for Vick. 99% of people would say Donovan over Vick anyday BUT. I'm in a league where:

Pass TD - 3pts. 25yds Pass - 1pt

Rush TD - 6pts 10yds Rush - 1pt

Rec TD - 6pts. 10yds Rec - 1pt.

No penalties on Int, sacks, or fumbles.

Just to check I did the math of 2005. I added in the factor that Donovan played 9/16 games last season. Vick 15/16 games.

Donovan -- (1.77 Pass TD/game) =5.33 pts

(278.56 Pass yds/game) = 11.14pts

(0.11 Rush TD/game) = 0.667pts

(6.11 Rush yds/game) = 0.611pts

TOTAL = 17.75 pts/game

Vick -- (1.00 Pass TD/game) = 3pts

(160.80 Pass yds/game) = 6.432pts

(0.4 Rush TD/game) = 2.4pts

(39.8 Rush Yds/game) = 3.98pts

TOTAL = 15.81 pts/game

I know that if a player has 9.8 rushing yds in a game he doesn't get 0.98 points, but because this is an average it just gives me an idea.

There is not that much of a differential, and I think the loss of T.O. may bring down Donovans numbers. Sure he has Stallworth now, but they dont compare.

Still Donovan??

Yes, Donovan is more consistent, which doesn't show up using end of year stats. Plus, with the loss of TO and his sports hernia (hopefully) all better, he might rush a little more. If the matchup is great for Vick and terrible for McNabb, I could see putting in Vick.
