Winky Dinky Dogg 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Can't seem to get my arms around the best approach in my 12 team, PPR, redraft league: Do I go sub par RB/RB in rds 1 & 2? Do I go sub par RB/stud WR? Or, do I go nuts and go WR/WR?
guitarmonkiy 0 Posted September 1, 2006 I would go either RB/RB or RB/WR. In my draft I went RB/RB, and was able to get Ronnie and Lamont. However, most of the other people in my league are newbies so I wouldn't expect that in other leagues. I wouldn't go WR/WR because by the time it snakes back around you're gonna be pretty screwed with the RBs that are left. JMO
Winky Dinky Dogg 0 Posted September 1, 2006 I'm swimming with other sharks in this particular league and fully anticipate they'll go RB for the first 15 or so picks, hence the crazy notion to double down at WR. I am fairly certain I will not be crazy enough to try it, but its so unconventional it might work. The ajor flaw is I would probably have to settle for Frank Gore/Mike Bell types as my RBs and I would have to be dead on with my assessment of the WRs I selected. I just don't find a duo of Rudi Johnson and Willis McGahee types as formidable enough to win big dollars in this league. Maybe I'll get lucky and the sharks act like newbies. In that case, I'd say go top RB available, and your choice of a stud WR.
Toothless Grin 0 Posted September 1, 2006 If you don't pick atleast one stud WR you will be in looking at 2nd tier RB's and 2nd tier WR's against their top RB and stud WR. Better get one before they do.
lv_2_hack 0 Posted September 1, 2006 You gotta go RB/RB b/c if you don't your going to be stuck with no depth and a bad 2nd starter at rb. Grab Caddy/Brown/Jordan/Portis and then get Chambers and say Darrel Jackson in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Brown/Jordan with Chambers/Jackson look pretty solid. Alot more attractive then say brown/gore and Harrison/Jackson with no bench. See what i'm saying? Just draft wr with alot of upside that have a chance of putting up huge numbers! Winky Dinky Dogg 0 Posted September 1, 2006 I feel yah. The issue I think I will run into is this: I find a RB combo more like: Cadillac/McGahee. This league will look something like this by pick 16: RB = 12 WR = 2 QB = 1 RBs beyond 12 are probably not worth reaching for; however if one of the following names is there, I go for it: Westbrook, FWP...maybe, McGahee. mrgymrat 0 Posted September 2, 2006 I'd go stud WR then come back with an RB. Most Rb's you're looking at will be the same. Grab a Harrison, CJ, or TO and be happy. If Rudi is available then maybe RB... but he's probably gone by then. 1. LJ 2. SA 3. LT 4. P Manning 5. Portis 6. Barber 7. Rudi 8. SJ 9.?
Looseafir 3 Posted September 2, 2006 I would go RB/WR but it depends on your scoring. Manning/RB is another option.

Rudi and McGahee are fine choices and if they're available, you must take them. They'll be fine. There aren't any WRs who are guarantees this year. Owens is going to cave in on himself, Brooks sucks too much to even hit Moss, Chad Johnson had a crappy 2nd half last year, Boldin & Fitzgerald will split TDs down the middle again, Chambers becomes pedestrian if Culpepper's knee falls apart, where exactly are you getting a money WRs who you can count on for 10+ TDs? If you take Owens/Moss or another high priced duo at WR, who are your RBs? Mike Anderson and Kevan Barlow? THINK, BOY.
Son of Squirrel 0 Posted September 2, 2006 It all depends who is there at the picks. It is hard to make prediction on 'what if's'. The feel of the room and the other owners will dictate your action. But if everything feel according to the tiers, then it should be #2rb, then #1 wr. I really value tiering. It helps make these types of decisions easier. STEELERMAN 0 Posted September 2, 2006 My top 12: 1) LJ 2) LT2 3) Alexander 4) Tiki 5) Ronnie Brown 6) St. Jackson 7) Rudi Johnson 8) B. Westbrook 9) L. Jordan 10) Edge 11) Caddy 12) Portis I would try for the best Rb's initially unless you only ned to start
