dats007 1 Posted September 23, 2006 I'm 2-0 and second in points in my league, yet I continuously feel like there is something missing from my squad...a solid QB for sure, but maybe a little bit better WR? I've got three hot RB's in Dunn, Gore and Westbrook which has been both blessing and a curse (never know which two to start!). I've notified the league that both Dunn and Westbrook are on the trade block (I'm targeting Gore as the future RB of my squad, he's most likely going to be 1 of my 2 keepers) but have yet to get any offers. I looked at the rosters a minute ago, and found a team that has these three in their stable of RB's: L.Betts M.Barber W.McGahee Nothing really outside of McGahee. They also have Steve Smith and Santana Moss on their roster as well as Eli Manning and Vince Young (possible keeper #2?). Is there any way that you can see a scenario where I can get both S.Smith (value lessens each week he doesn't play!) AND Vince Young? His team is 0-2 and could easily be 0-6 after the next 4 games. Thanks for your help. Leave me a link, and I'll answer yours in return for a possible solution to my worries. My roster is below.

If so, hang on to Westbrook and make sure you have Buckhalter handcuffed to him. Trade Dunn as he's not a goal line threat (that is, if you have to make a trade at all). Personally (and this is just my opinion) I think Vince Young is going to be the NFL's next Akili Smith. At best I don't see him doing anything more career-wise than Steve McNair has, and Steve McNair has NEVER been a fantasy stud. Rex Grossman has more upside IMO, though he's probably not available in your league after last week. If the guy who has Young and Smith feels the way I do about Young, the answer to your quest is *yes* it might be possible for you to pull this off. If he has Young on his staff, though, he probably likes him so it may be difficult to pull off... http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=236360
NebraskaRRT 0 Posted September 23, 2006 I agree with Dan. Young is very very raw. I think at the start of the season Chris Mortensen said Young was 3 years away from being any kind of impact in the league. Young was one smart man getting out when the getting was good. He definitely does not look at fast as advertised. Vicks career will be head and shoulders above Youngs. The best thing for your team is to upgrade at QB. Eli is the one to target. Dunn is playing very well and value is high. Bwest seems to have a little fragile freddy in him, that concerns me. I think this Knee issue is something that you will deal with all year...ala Dom Davis. It would be interesting to see the other guys total roster also. madd futher mucker 36 Posted September 23, 2006 I really like your team! QB's: I like Smith and Favre (match-up starter) - Ben is a waste of a roster spot. Do NOT go after Young as a keeper. Picking up rookie QBs is the biggest mistake that keeper league noobs can make. IMO there is only one QB worth keeper status in a two keeper league and his name is Peyton and you won't get him. RBs: Your RBs are fine as they are. Gore is talented and will be a fine keeper. Dunn is always undervalued, but if you can get LT for Gore and Westy, go for it! Otherwise CJ is your other keeper as of right now. WRs are also fine. My best advise is for you to do everything you can to win the championship this year and don't worry about getting fancy because it is a 2 man keeper league. Try to upgrade your TE, and Trade up for a premier D, and you should do it. Good luck!
dats007 1 Posted September 23, 2006 It would be interesting to see the other guys total roster also. Here's what the other guy is working with: QB - E.Manning, V.Young, C.Simms RB - W.McGahee, M.Barber, L.Betts WR - S.Smith, S.Moss, A.Randle-El, B.Engram, J.Jurevicious TE - T.Gonzalez, D.Clark K - N.Rackers D/ST - Ravens, Falcons I really like your team! Try to upgrade your TE, and Trade up for a premier D, and you should do it. Good luck! Thanks. I like my team too but I think I could like it better. Personally, I think that my TE is just as good as every other one. What's the avg. TE score per week? Like 3 points? However, thank you for suggesting the defense! I might be able to work a deal with this same guy for the Ravens defense, don't ya think? And another thing, I'm hardly a newcomer to this thing...our league's in it's 6 year. madd futher mucker 36 Posted September 23, 2006 Didn't mean to imply YOU were a noob. Taking a shot on a rookie QB in a keeper league is a typical noob mistake tho. Even a bigger mistake in a 2 man keeper! In most keeper leagues, guys also tend to out think tommorrow at the expense of today. You have a real good chance of winning your league and have a couple quality keepers on your team already. (As a strategy thing, and it depends on exactly when you have to declare your keepers, a guy I really like is Turner, who will be a free agent. There is no way SD will be able to afford to keep him and he will be a stud next year in the right situation. He is MY keeper target right now for my keep 8 keeper league. And in a keep 8 league, I still would not consider Vince Young)

He does have 2 good D's. Unfortunately for him that is his strongest team spot by far.
Melvinbet 5 Posted September 23, 2006 You may have to end up giving more than you want for Balt. D but thats what you need. See mine please
dats007 1 Posted September 23, 2006 A) Didn't mean to imply YOU were a noob. In most keeper leagues, guys also tend to out think tommorrow at the expense of today. You have a real good chance of winning your league and have a couple quality keepers on your team already. C)As a strategy thing, and it depends on exactly when you have to declare your keepers... A) I didn't think you were, just clarifying! I agree that I got a pretty solid team right now, and after reading some of the replies to this thread I think it might be difficult to make it that much better with out parting ways with the core of my team. C) We can keep up to two players, but not more than one at any position. So 1RB & 1WR, or 1QB & 1RB, etc. The tricky part of strategizing for who we keep also includes the round in which the player was originally drafted. So for example, I kept Brian Westbrook & Warrick Dunn (the rule about 1/position went into affect this year after some guys felt screwed for drafting poorly last year) in the 2nd and 5th rounds respectively. This year, I took Chad Johnson with my first pick (3rd overall), Roy Williams in the third round, and Gore in the fourth. Should I keep Gore & Alex Smith (who wasn't drafted, so he's only worth a 16th round pick this year) then in next seasons draft, I'd lose a 3rd and 15th round pick. Guys like Willie Parker & Chester Taylor were kept going into this season and only cost 15th & 16th round selections!
seattleslew 0 Posted September 23, 2006 Unless you want to greatly reduce your chances THIS year, I wouldn't move Dunn. If you are 0-6 or something, and feel like packing it in while Dunn's value is at its peak, I would go after Manning. Though Alex Smith and Norv Turner look all right so far, especially if I understand you correctly and keeping Smith costs little. I think you're fine where you're at. I'm trying to build the best team that I can to blow out my competition! As for Dunn, his value is high but it could be waaay higher if he scored TD's!
